Job Summary

A Nurse Practitioner is a licensed health care provider, trained to provide direct delivery of patient care services. In accordance with the rules and regulations set forth by the State of Wyoming, a Nurse Practitioner will engage in the provision of outpatient, primary care services in a clinic setting as well as possible service in other locations such as nursing homes or other health care facilities.

Employee shall work an average of 40 hours per week. The practice model may be evaluated every quarter by senior staff for purposes of clarification of practice, objectives and goals. Based on organizational need the employee may be required to work in areas other than that for which the employee was hired. Employee subject to mandatory performance expectations and requirements set forth in the provider contract. This provider job description is representative of the provider contract and superseded by the signed formal contract. PNP certification preferred however an FNP with pediatric experience will also be considered. This position will be primarily at the pediatric clinic in Lander, WY but periodic coverage may be required at our pediatric clinic in Riverton, WY.

Essential Functions

  • Employee performs all duties in accordance with the generally accepted standard of care for the medical profession and the employees’ specialty.
  • Employee shall exercise and have complete control over the diagnosis and treatment of each patient.
  • Employee shall not give assurances outside of providers’ scope of practice.
  • Employee maintains the credentialing required and engages in education as appropriate.
  • Employee shall be self-sustaining as measured by contract production goals.
  • Employee engages in quality measures and outcomes as directed by CQI.
  • All documentation and coding is timely and complete within a period of 72 hours.
  • Employee will actively engage in organizational electronic health record.
  • Employee serves on a minimum of one organizational committee.
  • Employee maintains an open practice in which the employee shall not refuse to accept new patients.
  • Employee limits professional practice to activities that have been formally approved in writing by employer
  • Employee explains the expected duration of procedures, visits, and delays to patient in a calming manner.

Qualification Requirements:

Education and Experience:

Must be a graduate of a recognized and accredited training program for Nurse Practitioners. Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate competency in the clinic skills necessary to perform a range of primary care services for the patients who represent the spectrum of life cycles. Licensure by the State and by the Drug Enforcement Administration is required.

Work Record:

A demonstrated work record showing good attendance is necessary, demonstrating punctuality, dependability and the ability to work well under a team management concept while maintaining good relationships with superiors, subordinates and co-workers. The scope of training rotations must be applicable to the nature of patient needs in this setting.

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general medical and other professional journals and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports dictate concise, accurate patient chart notes. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisors, patients, third party payers, vendors and the general public.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to apply basic statistical and mathematical concepts to patient data, test results and other related information.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where sometimes only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Team Work:

Ability to work and interact effectively and positively with other staff members to build and enhance teamwork throughout the clinic setting.

Work Environment:

Work is performed in a typical outpatient clinic environment and periodically at locations outside the office. Some travel may be required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
