Job Description

We are seeking a Director of Food and Beverage to lead our 50-room, full-service upscale resort located in beautiful Southwest Harbor, Maine. As the Director of Food and Beverage, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects within the a la carte side of our food and beverage operations. Our property does not do events or banquets! Our Director of Food & Beverage will lead a team of managers and associates and ensure that all food and beverage offerings meet our ambitious standards of quality, service, and hospitality. In this role, you will collaborate closely with our Executive Chef, General Manager, and other senior leaders to develop and execute our food and beverage strategy. You will be responsible for managing budgets, forecasting, and financial reporting for the food and beverage department. You will also play a key role in driving revenue growth and profitability through innovative menu planning, cost control, and operational efficiency. The Director of Food and Beverage will deploy a service-first methodology and standards and consistently maintain a profitable F&B department. Our ideal Director of Food and Beverage will be an enthusiastic educator, a firsthand culture-building leader, and be well-versed in both banquets/events and a la carte dining in our outlets. A deep-rooted and sincere passion for F&B, strong financial acumen, and extraordinary leadership skills are required for this position on our Executive Leadership Team. Ideal candidates will deliver a resort or hotel background and be comfortable working in a remote and seasonal location.


Responsibilities

Responsible for service, quality, and culinary excellence in all F&B dining outlets, and catering functions. NO EVENTS or BANQUETS!

Supports outlet and shift supervisors in all aspects of managing Food & Beverage outlets to ensure a smooth-running operation, including the supervision and training of staff.

Ensure maximum guest satisfaction, the creation of a positive work environment, maximum profitability, and adequate supervision of Food and Beverage staff.

Create a positive and engaging work culture that fosters teamwork, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Responsible for all hiring, training, coaching, and developing our staff to ensure that our team members are equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to provide exceptional service to our guests.

Lead and mentor supervisors, managers, and hourly team members.

Build on and enhance team culture.

Interview, train, supervise, counsel, schedule, and evaluate team.

Lead operational coverage, workload, and resource distribution within the team.

Oversee the facilitation of guest experience on the property.

Oversee and plan all a la carte operations to maintain ambitious standards of F&B quality and service to maximize profits through extraordinary guest service.

Consistently exude and deliver superior guest service.

Responsible for full profit and loss for the F&B department

Oversee and deliver financial reporting on all liquor, beer, and wine inventory.

Organize and conduct department meetings on a regular basis.

Ensure compliance with all Maine liquor laws and health and sanitation regulations.

Lead all required meetings.


Qualifications

Minimum of five years of previous F&B management experience from an independent, boutique, lifestyle hotel, resort, or private club.

High volume a la carte food and beverage management experience.

Experience leading successful operations in large-scale banquets, events, and weddings.

Strong leadership abilities and experience.

Relentless pursuit to enhance the overall guest experience.

Deliver excellent communication, leadership, and people skills, as well as the ability to prioritize and delegate tasks effectively.
