SUMMARY:

This position is primarily responsible for establishing and administering therapy treatment programs with goals defined by the patient's capacity and tolerance and in accordance with the physician's orders. Must be able to perform patient therapy to patients, communicate effectively with physician, educate patient, document and record the patient's condition and provide continuing updates on patient condition and makes referrals to other treatment teams if appropriate.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Evaluate and manage a wide variety of upper extremity conditions and procedures, with primary caseload post-operative conditions
  • Diagnose movement dysfunction and develop appropriate treatment plan
  • Interpret and organize evaluation and assessment data
  • Document and maintain a plan of care for each patient which includes specific Occupational Therapy orders in coordination with the medical plan of care
  • Communicates the plan of care in formal and informal communication with hand/medical team
  • Maintain patient record and document toward progress and therapeutic goals
  • Education with patients regarding physical condition and symptoms
  • Patient education for proper implementation of therapeutic exercise techniques
  • Assist patients with the use of adaptive equipment
  • Schedule patient effectively for best time utilization


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directly supervises employees who are Assistants, Tech’s and Athletic Trainers. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include potentially participating in interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


Requirements:

? 3 years in outpatient rehabilitation, with focus on hand and upper extremity

? Strong skill set in custom orthosis fabrication

? Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy, from an accredited program

? Current Colorado license (or ability to obtain)


Preferred Requirements:

? Certified Hand Therapist credential strongly preferred
