Diesel Mechanic

Ergon Marine & Industrial Supply, Inc., has an opening for a Diesel Mechanic at its Vicksburg location.

Ergon is a family-owned oil and gas company based in the Jackson, MS area with facilities across the US. EMIS is a subsidiary with facilities that support marine traffic up and down the Mississippi River. Our facilities are located in Vicksburg, MS, and Memphis, TN.

This position is responsible for minor repairs on EMIS marine equipment and building maintenance on EMIS property.

Diesel Mechanic Responsibilities include the following:

  • General maintenance of EMIS marine vessels

  • Oversee and help EMIS vessels with monthly servicing / preventive maintenance

  • Communicate with Marine Manager regarding daily assignments

  • Investigate and diagnose reported problems and relay the information to Marine Manager

  • Assist crews in preparing vessels and barges for USCG inspections

  • Oversee and assist outside contractors with marine repairs

  • Make general repairs to buildings on EMIS property as needed

  • Must work well with others

Diesel Mechanic Qualifications:

  • High School graduate or GED

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience on towing vessels

  • Knowledge of marine vessels and diesel engines

  • General knowledge of marine hydraulics, electrical and piping systems

  • General shipyard knowledge

  • Must be able to swim

  • Must have a valid driver's license
