The Role:

Ensures that equipment and the building at the 909 Michigan Avenue are kept in good repair as well as in compliance with applicable regulations by performing preventive maintenance, repairs, and assists with scheduling contractors when necessary. Assists with receiving and shipping responsibilities. The Maintenance Technician also facilitates building and capital improvement projects, such as new equipment installations and structural projects. The Maintenance Technician works with the Sanitation and Maintenance Supervisor and Production Kitchen Manager to determine opportunities for efficiency improvements and sources new equipment for the improvements.

The Responsibilities:

  • Complete and record preventive maintenance tasks according to the Preventive Maintenance schedule.

  • Develop processes and procedures to minimize downtime and improve production efficiency.

  • Assists Sanitation and Maintenance Supervisor and Production Kitchen Manager with building and new equipment projects.

  • Inspect trucks prior to receiving and shipment.

  • Receive ingredients and supplies and provide Production Supervisor or Manager with paperwork.

  • Complete records associated with receiving and shipping products and ingredients.

  • Assist with palletizing finished product for shipment to partner producers.

  • Assist with production when necessary.

  • Comply with Food Safety Policies and procedures.

Qualifications:
  • Incumbent should have training in preventive maintenance programs as well as a basic understanding of food processing equipment, specifically steam-jacketed kettles, positive displacement pumps, large scale mixers, refrigeration, etc. Incumbent should seek training opportunities to better understand equipment present at 909 Michigan Avenue location.

  • Incumbent should have a minimum of 1-2 years experience in food manufacturing maintenance.

  • Incumbent should be self-directing and self-motivated.
