  1. SUMMARY: The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing maintenance repairs, janitorial duties, and landscaping at agency-owned and leased facilities and properties. Responsibilities include performing repairs and maintenance on equipment and facilities; janitorial and landscaping duties; perform regularly-scheduled maintenance checks; follow established safety rules, policies, and procedures; and maintain required records. This position is responsible for responding to and resolving maintenance and janitorial needs in a timely manner in a person centered environment.
  1. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Perform scheduled maintenance checks on all agency-owned/leased property and perform repairs and remodeling as needed.
  2. Assist in maintaining the overall quality and appearance of the administrative office building by performing janitorial duties to include but not limited to: vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, hand scrubbing, carpet cleaning, floor buffing, etc. in offices, restrooms, program rooms, and common areas as necessary.
  3. Ensure that the agency is compliant with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations by maintaining all agency property by ensuring that the buildings are in good repair and free of hazards including but not limited to those caused by electrical, plumbing, heating, and cooling.
  4. Respond to and resolve maintenance and janitorial requests assigned by Facilities Manager and other management staff, as assigned. Some maintenance projects may need to be coordinated with other departments.
  5. Operate construction and maintenance equipment and power tools. Maintain hand tools and assigned equipment by performing preventative maintenance on equipment.
  6. Pass the Medication Administration test with no more than two attempts and administer medication to clients according to physician orders and using appropriate administration techniques as outlined in the Medication Administration course, if needed.
  7. Must be able to perform Lifting and Transferring techniques as trained and pass performance testing. The employee will occasionally lift and/or push and pull up to 100 lbs. Lifting may require floor to waist, waist to shoulder, or shoulder to overhead movement.
  8. Driving of agency vehicles as necessary for transportation of clients and agency business as assigned.

  • Able to regularly sit, walk, stand, climb up and down stairs, physically restrain clients pursuant to training (when necessary) and sit at a computer for long periods of time and repeat the same hand, arm, or finger motion many times (typing, data entry).

  • Tolerate various levels of stress and meet deadlines with severe time constraints.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Order and maintain necessary supplies, material, and equipment within budgetary guidelines.
  2. Obtain bids from outside vendors for major repair work at agency-owed/leased facilities.
  3. Maintain fire alarm systems, ensuring they are in good working order. Perform test on fire alarms on regularly-scheduled basis and keep required records of test results.
  4. Inspect agency fire extinguishers on an annual basis.
  5. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of daily work by communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

  7. Maintain certifications for First Aid, CPR, crisis prevention and other courses as required.
  8. Prepare and submit clear and concise reports, proposals, and invoices in a timely manner.

  11. Participate in staff training activities and staff meetings, as outlined in the agency's staff development curriculum.
  12. Plan and participate in agency functions and events.
  13. Work flexible schedules or within various environments as agency and supervisor deems necessary. Staff attendance and promptness to assigned shifts is essential. The responsibilities of this position may require staff to be able to work irregular, extended, and/or be available for on-call work hours, nights, weekend, holidays, etc.
  14. Advise supervisor of concerns and problems that arise within the agency.
  15. Follow agency procedures when purchasing items on behalf of the agency.
  16. Follow agency policies and procedures in carrying out duties.
  17. Advise supervisor of concerns and problems that arise within the agency.
  18. Safeguard all agency funds and property.
  19. Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Director or designee.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

MINIMUM/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

This position requires a High School Diploma or GED AND at least three years of demonstrated experience working in household repair or maintenance positions. Must be at least 18 years of age. Persons hired into this position must be licensed drivers and have reliable transportation. If current license is from out-of-state, a valid Colorado Driver's License is required within ten days of hire. Background check, drug and alcohol check, reference check, and motor vehicle checks must be passed. Current motor vehicle insurance is required. Driving is an essential job duty.

Preferred: 4-5 years of demonstrated experience working in household repair or maintenance positions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly sit, walk, and stand. Occasionally, movement that requires twisting at the neck and/or trunk more than the average person, squatting/ stooping/kneeling, reaching above the head, forward motion and climbing on ladders will be required. The employee will continuously be required to repeat the same hand, arm, or finger motion many times. Manual and finger dexterity are essential to this position. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, depth perception and telling differences among colors. The Maintenance Manager provides supervision of this position. In general, this position requires that the individual work independently approximately 90% of the time. Providing mentoring duties and oversight for clients may be required.
