Lake Ellyn Boathouse Rental Attendant


The Glen Ellyn Park District is seeking reliable and customer-oriented Rental Attendants to join our team. The Lake Ellyn Boathouse provides a beautiful rental space right on the lake surrounded by a stunning park with a walking trail and playground. The perfect setting for weddings, family gatherings and many special occasion celebrations. As a Rental Attendant, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer care and assisting with a variety of tasks to ensure a wonderful experience while creating lasting memories!


Hours:       Primarily evenings and weekends. Shifts vary depending on the rental.


Location:   645 Lenox Rd. Glen Ellyn, IL 60137


JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction and supervision of the Superintendent of Recreation Services and/or Boat House Rental Coordinator, the PT Rental Attendant will be responsible for providing quality customer service by being attentive and responsive to the renter's needs and through facility cleanliness, room set-up and take-down, and troubleshooting as needed and able.  Duties include but are not limited to those listed below. This is an at-will position.


Responsibilities:

  • Greet customers and assist them in selecting and setting up rental equipment according to their needs.
  • Assist customers with loading and unloading rental equipment as needed.
  • Inspect rental equipment for damages and ensure they are in proper working condition before and after each rental.
  • Provide basic instruction on how to operate rental equipment.
  • Answer customer inquiries and resolve any issues or complaints in a professional and timely manner.
  • Collaborate and communicate with other team members to ensure smooth operation of the rental department.
  • Direct and assist outside vendors (catering, DJ, etc.) as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the rental area, including kitchen, restrooms, equipment storage, and display(s).
  • Adhere to District policies and procedures, including safety protocols and rental guidelines.
  • Keep track of rental inventory levels and communicate with management regarding restocking or other needs or concerns.
  • Unlocking/locking and securing the facility as needed and/or assigned.


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING:

  • The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, dependable, and service-oriented with an eye for detail.
  • Previous experience in customer service or a similar role is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to respond quickly and calmly in difficult or emergency situations.
  • Previous leadership and/or supervisory experience is preferred with ability to work independently.
  • Basic knowledge of rental equipment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • In good physical condition to be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time, with manual dexterity and enough strength to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Must become CPR and First Aid certified which will be provided by the GEPD.
  • Flexibility to work weekends (Friday/Saturday/Sunday) and holidays as needed.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Will be required to pass a post offer criminal background check.
