Summary


Ensure efficient and safe performance of plant equipment through utilizing a thorough understanding of mechanical and electrical operation of machinery. Effectively accomplish technical assignments and projects using good troubleshooting techniques and sound judgement based upon data and technical understanding. Primarily responsible for ongoing equipment maintenance, detecting and diagnosing problems, repairing and replacing parts in order to establish optimal equipment functioning and support the priorities of EHS, Quality, and Low Cost Production.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide mechanical, electrical, and controls troubleshooting support and repair/replacement services for all equipment
  • Maintain equipment in a safe and productive manner
  • Ensure all maintenance documentation is completed such as PM’s, calibration and troubleshooting guides per CMMS systems
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem
  • Supports continuous improvement in cost reduction and equipment improvements while maintaining priorities
  • Interface with operators, team leaders and maintenance personnel to develop and implement equipment, repair procedures, maintenance costs and safety improvements
  • Use a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment
  • Supports the management of spare parts inventory for production equipment, including recommended changes and justifications
  • Work to train maintenance and operators to improve troubleshooting skills

Skill/knowledge RequirementS

  • Must be able to read and have a competent understanding of schematics and blueprints
  • Write, troubleshoot, and modify logic and ladder diagrams for programmable controllers used in plant operations. Experience with Rockwell PLC’s and GE Robotics are a plus.
  • Identify basic mechanical duties and identify problems pertaining to maintaining plant-processing equipment
  • Good verbal/written communication skills as well as effective time management through multiple priorities
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.

Required Activities

Position requires 70% walking and/or standing in an industrial environment. Will be exposed to all seasonal climatic conditions; exposed to dust, noise, and uneven sometimes slippery surfaces. Required to climb stairs, ladders, and elevated platforms to a height of 75 feet. Occasionally lifting, carrying, and/or pulling objects up to 100 lbs. Occasionally will operate a company pickup truck and forklift. Constantly communicating with Operators, Maintenance, QA, and Supervisors. Must be on call and work nights and weekends as needed. Must be self-motivated and complete tasks with minimal supervision.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma or equivalent required. 2 year technical degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or similar program preferred.
