It's kinda hard to call most accounting and tax roles exciting: the work is the work. Monthly cadences, annual deadlines, attention to detail. But the environment you're applying your knowledge can make all the difference in your work experience, and our client is delivering on that in spades.

This is not the opportunity for someone who wants to walk in, do their work to themselves, and walk out at the end of the day without a lot of interaction. The team is vibrant with great personalities and they're excited to see what you bring to the mix on that account.

As to the work, the Accounting and Tax Manager will have responsibility for a section of clients. Through most of the year you're working with them by delivering monthly financials and helping the business owners understand what the numbers are telling them. You also work with them proactively on the tax side to make sure they aren't making any big mistakes that will cost them at tax time. Then you handle the tax returns for the business and often for the owner's personal taxes.

And this is no 1040 shop. No or very low overtime is not only possible, it's the expectation. The owners will tell you they nearly quit the industry years ago before figuring out the better way to run their firm and that was to avoid burnout for them and their staff.

There are a few key things that will help with fit:

• Public accounting should be familiar for you. As in, you've worked in public accounting in a client-facing role before
• You're a degreed accountant and either have or are working toward your CPA or EA (enrolled agent) designation
• You LIKE working with clients. Talking to them, emailing back and forth. This can't be a negative experience for you.
• You are looking for a place where you'll be able to come into the office regularly
