Summer Camp Sports/Challenge Course Specialist

Summer 2024- June 27th through August 16th, 2024 8:45am-4:30pm

Summary: Camp Settoga is the Marlene Meyerson JCC's off site summer camp. It is approximately 40 minutes north of the GWB, and we provide transportation for all camp staff. Our 21 outdoor campground is home to a large sports field complex, and a climbing wall, and an 8 element ropes course. Sports/ Ropes specialists work with the Athletic/ Challenge Course to run programs for our campers age 4-12.

Responsibilities:

• Create enthusiasm and engagement in a speciality area.
• Incorporate the camp vision of creating a positive, independent and interactive environment through which to develop personal and communal Jewish identity into your lessons, goals, and curriculum.
• Prepare lesson plans and activities one week in advance and share with Lead specialist and Program Director.
• Instruct counselors on how to support your lesson plans and create a positive educational atmosphere during lessons.
• Work in partnership with other camp staff including unit heads and lead specialists.
• Ensure that specialty areas are set up prior to camp day, and broken down upon completion.
• Follow safety procedures as specified by Camp Settoga Policies and procedure manual
• Provide necessary maintenance of equipment check prior to campers using equipment including but not limited to checking ropes and spraying helmets.
• Participate in all camp activities including orientation, meetings, evening activities, campfire events, etc.
• Must have good communication skills

Qualifications

• Experience working with children
• Experience creating and implementing lesson plans and activities

Salary Range: 4,000 + kosher lunch provided
