GARDEN CENTER MERCHANDISER (WM)

Job Title: Garden Center Live Goods Merchandiser (GCM Provider-Walmart)

Locations: RI and MA

Position: Seasonal Hourly non-exempt

Reports to: Regional Merchandising Manager (servicing Walmart)

Job Description

A Merchandiser (GCM provider) will use strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain a positive working relationship with store personnel. Merchandising the live goods displays according to plan-o-gram and ensuring the markdown process is utilized properly. Managing the inventory levels and maintenance of the live goods for GMS customers (Vendors) by communicating back to their Field Supervisor or Regional is another responsibility. The Merchandiser will adhere to company policy, including store hours, store policies, and proper utilization of Apps.

General Duties and Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships, interact professionally and maintain effective communication with diverse groups, including store management teams and associates and GMS Merchandising personnel
• Unload racks, build attractive displays on Garden Center tables, according to plan-o-gram.
• Ensure displayed merchandise is condensed and signed properly.
• Remove distressed product from display.
• Pruning/ culling live goods.
• Keep the display area clean and well-organized.
• Minimize markdowns and shrink by pruning/ culling live goods.
• Determining and marking down live goods as necessary.
• Merchandise Supermarket, GM entrances, sidewalk and parking lot displays.
• Communicate daily with manager and follow up on all requests from management in a timely manner.
• Understand and follow all Grower Merchandising standard operating procedures and policies, including work hours and APP utilization.
• Assisting in building and/or putting the tables and galvanized racks together

Skills and Qualifications

• Ability to download required apps, and utilize per company policy every work day
• Able to meet the physical demands of the job which includes: standing for prolonged periods, reaching and bending repeatedly, lifting, pushing and pulling safely up to 50 pounds
• Willing to work in all weather conditions
• Available to work weekends and Holidays when required
• Ability to execute plan-o-grams and signage guidelines
• Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize accordingly
• Must be self- motivated, hardworking, energetic, detail oriented and able to work independently
