THE OPPORTUNITY

Primient customers trust us to provide high quality ingredients for their manufacturing processes. Our Plant Quality team leads on key strategic and process initiatives to strengthen our standards even further and ensure we maintain key accreditations.

The work includes instrumental analysis of process streams and products utilizing HPLC, KF, titration, and pH meters, as well as physical testing using balances and sieves. The person in this position will be expected to work with the Quality Assurance team to gain the understanding of the maintenance and repair of laboratory equipment and help to maintain the laboratory equipment in both the QA and process labs. The understanding of SAP lab, production and shipment transactions will be required. The data generated is used to support the manufacturing processes and for quality control of finished products. Data entry may be made into MDE and SAP. Data sharing is also conducted by hard
copy, fax, phone, or spreadsheets. This position requires 10 hour shifts and some shift flexibility to cover vacations and other absences.


Key responsibilities: Lab Technician
  • Prepare samples for testing and operate instruments used to perform the testing.
    • Perform qualitative and quantitative testing on finished products to ensure compliance with
    existing specifications, federal regulations, and fitness for release.
    • Post information in SAP, MDE, and Excel.
    • Ensure HACCP verifications have been completed prior to final product release.
    • Have a technical understanding of the operation of the laboratory equipment.
    • Perform maintenance and calibration of laboratory instruments in QA and process labs.
    • Prepare chemical and standard solutions.
    • Have the ability to troubleshoot and repair laboratory equipment.


ABOUT YOU
  • Proven technical skills including experience with food manufacturing work.
  • Experience with analytical techniques (i.e., use of pipettes, volumetric flasks, balances, etc.).
  • Good troubleshooting skills.
  • A customer focus with understanding of customer needs.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and computer skills.
  • Must be a self-starter.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Some college or technical school education with at least one class of introductory chemistry is desirable. Some experience (either educational or work) functioning in a chemistry laboratory is preferred.
