WellStone is North Alabama's most comprehensive behavioral healthcare provider serving over 13,000 persons annually throughout Northern Alabama, with offices in Huntsville and Cullman. We are a non-profit community organization that offers a wide range of services for every phase of life, from children to older adults.

Join the WellStone Emergency Services (WES) crisis team as a transporter! The transporter plays a dynamic role in support of individuals in crisis who need access to and from our center. We seek applicants with excellent customer service skills, a passion for helping others, and a 'can do' attitude! This position is full-time

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license and good 5 yr driving record
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients and staff
  • Knowledge of community, i.e., streets/routes, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPR or BLS Certification
  • At least 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Transport clients to and from our emergency services grounds using acompany vehicle
  • Coordinate transportation with other mental health centers and health care facilities
  • Transport clients to and from medical appointments
  • Transport client meals to other local WellStone Facilities
  • Offer support and encourage clients and their family members
  • Maintain cleanliness of vehicle to include COVID protocols
  • Perform preventative maintenance checks daily
  • Adhere to the City’s Department of Transportation rules and regulations regarding transporting or driving a company vehicle
  • Attend required training, and safety courses concerning duties
  • Observe clients and report any information as required to WellStone Emergency Services (WES) Leadership
  • Work with coworkers in ensuring the safety of the clients by ensuring seat belts are fastened
  • Report any vehicle issues immediately to the Facilities Manager
  • Other duties as assigned by WES Director
  • Able to be on call when needed as available
  • Full-time 2nd shift

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong customer and client service skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
  • Ability to safely transport items weighing up to 40 pounds
