Pay Range: $18.13- $25.79

Offering rate will vary within the listed hourly range above. *Supported by the Department budget & related experience/education*

Role:

Provides immediate and on-going assistance to Native American victims of crime including domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, and elder abuse in the Northeast Kansas area. This position conducts assessments and provides referrals and case management services to victims; advocates through support, information, and assistance to victims as their case moves through the criminal justice process and beyond.

Minimum Requirements:

Driving: Must have a valid Kansas driver's license and be insurable with the Nation's insurance

Experience: 2 years of similar or related experience advocating for individuals in need of assessments, referrals, support services and case management.

Education: Associate degree in social science field; Completion of a certification program such as but not limited to law enforcement, social services, etc.

Interpersonal Skills: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or can be of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of technology use in data management, communication, report-writing, and research.
  • Knowledge of human behavior and trauma responses; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation.
  • Knowledge of vicarious trauma and an understanding the effects of exposure to others' physical and emotional trauma experiences can have.
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Knowledge of procedures of criminal justice agencies as they affect the responsibilities and rights of victims and witnesses of crime.
  • Knowledge of conflict mediation, crisis intervention, and counseling techniques.
  • Knowledge of community resources available for social, medical, and economic assistance.
  • Knowledge of data collection, case documentation and report writing.
