Job Description

We are looking for a collaborative and technically proficient Finance Manager. The ideal candidate has experience working in the creative services industry. You’ll be accountable for managing, maintaining, and evolving a small finance department, and providing financial analysis and insights that enable leadership to make decisions impacting the success of the business. This person would report to the Executive Team and is responsible for supervising a Billing Manager.


Location

In-person attendance (3 to 5 days per week) will be required for initial onboarding and training as you become familiar with the data and platforms. A hybrid schedule will be implemented at the appropriate time to once or twice per month.

All candidates must have the ability travel and work from our Central, NJ

The Role You Will Play

The is a critical role supporting our executive team, department leads and account managers, and our clients, partners, and vendors. You will play a key role evaluating the existing team and processes and evolving how the finance team interacts with the stakeholders.


Provide insights

Source data from multiple platforms to provide financial analysis and actionable data insights that help impact profitability.

• Build financial models and scenarios and recommend solutions

• Monitor agency performance against company growth objectives; identify challenges and recommend appropriate corrective action

• Analyze and report on agency and industry trends to reduce financial risks associated with spending decisions

• Analyze and explain monthly actual results and identify key drivers of profitability

• Maintain various finance tools for internal stakeholders

• Evaluate processes, procedures, platforms and recommend areas for improvement

• Ensure staff utilizes and understands all available financial tools, reports, and resources


Manage financial data

Manage multiple workstreams and ad hoc requests with tight timelines while ensuring quality control over financial transactions and reporting.

• Manage day-to-day activities of accounts payable and receivable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, customer credits and collections, deferred sales, fixed asset records, general and entity accounting, cost accounting

• Manage month-end closing processes including but not limited to P&L, income statement, cash flows, forecasting, and utilization analysis

• Coordinate monthly reporting and forecast, tax and cash projections, accounting and revenue recognition, and annual tax return preparation

• Support and oversee payroll and finance-related HR tasks

• Manage and comply with government reporting requirements and tax filings

• Maintain and evolve current client estimating and billing procedures

• Supervise and assign tasks to the billing manager

• Promote knowledge and skill sharing to ensure business continuity


Communicate and collaborate seamlessly

Acts as a trusted resource for all things finance; establish and nurture strong internal and external relationships

• Clearly communicate financial matters to all levels of the organization

• Offer advice to internal stakeholders regarding spending, budgets, and estimates

• Communicate proactively and with timely follow-up replies

• Provide ad hoc and recurring trainings on key financial processes and reports

• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls

• Possess a high-level of discretion and confidentiality in all correspondence and communication with staff

• Serves as the liaison with outside audit firms, banks, credit card companies, and collection agencies, etc.

• Work closely with outside accountants including responding to tax and income statement related inquires



Background Profile

• 7-10 years of relevant finance experience in marketing, advertising, or other creative services field

• Bachelors degree in finance, accounting, or economics or equivalent work experience

• Professional accounting certification, including CMA, CGA, or CA

• Exemplary history of financial project management

• Proven payroll experience

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, and Google Sheets

• Working knowledge of (GAAP)

• Experience supporting HR functions related to finance and compliance, including onboarding and offboarding

• Secure transportation to/from our office for onboarding.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail

• Strong technical aptitude, including ability to learn company processes and platforms

• Knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance regulations and reporting

• Independent, with a demonstrated ability to prioritize requests, establish workflow procedures, multi-task, meet tight deadlines, and deliver on assigned objectives

• Experience creating process efficiencies

• Adaptable to the needs of others including internal stakeholders and clients

• Mastery of preparing annual, month-end, and ad hoc financial statements

• Friendly, team-focused, and can-do attitude is a must!
