Job Description

Principal Position Objective

Undertake planning for planned maintenance activities and develop engineering details, scope of work, quality, and safety plans for field execution of maintenance work.

Track and report on maintenance performance indicators.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Operational:

  • Undertake planning for planned maintenance activities and maintenance projects in accordance with planning procedures.
  • Develop work requests into a meaningful backlog with cost estimates, duration, critical parts & permit/HSE requirements defined.
  • Develop procedures for regular maintenance related tasks that define job planning, training, permit and safety requirements. Collate this information into standard work packages for regular maintenance activities.
  • Analyse maintenance costs to determine areas of significant expenditure to generate improvement initiatives and cost optimizations.
  • Report weekly and monthly on maintenance performance indicators and present these to the Maintenance Superintendent with initiatives for continuous improvement.
  • Develop the plan to provide supervision and management of internal & external resources outside of normal business hours when required for shutdowns and other major works.
  • Developing and maintaining a safe working environment through compliance with the company’s Health & Safety Program
  • Complying with the Maintenance Planner/Scheduler’s roles and responsibilities defined in the planning and scheduling, planned, and break-in work processes.
  • Backlog management, including weekly and monthly backlog reviews, purging aged work orders as required
  • Maintains backlog to effectively manage maintenance work
  • Scoping jobs as necessary to include: All necessary job steps, required tooling, drawings and diagrams, parts, manpower, and safety elements to be addressed
  • Determining the required parts on each work order in the backlog; verifying parts are available and ordering parts as necessary
  • Coordinating with procurement to generate material purchase orders and agreed delivery dates
  • Determining the need for special support equipment and orders/schedules as necessary
  • Chair and lead the weekly planning and scheduling meetings
  • Determining the work order planned start date
  • Controlling work orders to the 'Approved' and ‘Ready to Schedule’ status
  • Assisting in the development and maintenance of cost forecasting and budgets
  • Utilizing Condition Based Monitoring Reliability data
  • Implementing Demonstrated Best Planning Practices
  • CMMS Power User (SAP, Pronto or similar)
  • Planning and coordinating equipment commissions/decommissions
  • Review completed PMs and update agreed changes to parts list and tasks
  • Review and utilize technician feed back to develop new, and maintain current standard job plans

Safety:

  • Ensures that all tasks comply with Company health and safety requirements and policies and procedures and strengthens the culture of safety in the workplace.
  • Demonstrate safety awareness.
  • Participate in safety meetings and site safety programs.

  • Carries out all other duties that may reasonably be required.
Qualifications

Qualifications:

High School Diploma

Driver License

Experience:                        

At least 5 years’ production (heavy industrial plant) maintenance experience, including maintenance planning and scheduling.

Previous planning experience in a continuous production/process plant environment.

Has significant experience of fixed equipment, crushing, grinding, milling plant, rotating equipment and pressure vessels.

Previous experience as a scheduler is a significant asset

Supervisory / lead experience is preferred

Physical Requirements:

  1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear and see.
  2. Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 25 pounds) during the course of the workday.
  3. Work is in a surface mine plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity.
  4. Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
