OBJECTIVE OF POSITION: Provide quality speech and language therapy services to clients with developmental disabilities. Training and supervision for families, students, and professionals in the area of communication development and disorders.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

A: Job Specific:
  1. Plan and implement new program formats for providing clinical services to children and their families referred to the program.
  2. Serve as a member of the Tresco Outreach and Training Services Evaluation Team.
  3. Identify children with communicative or oropharyngeal disorders and delays, including the diagnosis and appraisal of specific disorders and delays in those skills.
  4. Referral for medical or other professional services necessary for habilitation or rehabilitation of children with communicative or oropharyngeal disorders and delays in development of communication skills.
  5. Provide services for the habilitation, rehabilitation, or prevention of communicative or oropharyngeal disorders and delays in development of communication skills.
  6. Assist in the development of IFSP’s.
  7. Assist parents and professionals in the understanding and interpretation of significance of children’s developmental status.
  8. Work as a team member using interdisciplinary team approach, utilizing a family centered perspective.
  9. Select and utilize appropriate assessment tools.
  10. Train parents and professionals individually and through workshops and lectures.
  11. Travel state-wide as required.
  12. Provide center based and home-based services.
  13. Assist in routine childcare.
  14. Assist in organization of childhood activities.
B. Company Specific:
  1. Adheres to dress code.
  2. Completes annual health, safety, and education requirements and demonstrate expected level of competency for each course completed.
  3. Reports to work on time s scheduled; stay awake and alert during work/training; adheres to policies regarding notification of absence.
  4. Attend mandatory trainings and staff meetings.
  5. Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner by establishing and maintaining professional relationships that foster growth and development.
  6. Complies with all organizational policies and procedures, to include all ethical business practices.
  7. Communicates the mission, ethics, and goals of the company.
  8. Maintains current licensure/certification for position, if applicable.
  9. Consistently follows departmental and company Health, Safety, Security, Hazardous Materials policies and procedures (OSHA, SDS information, HIPAA, and Workers Compensation).
  10. Respect for diversity (cultural, ethnicity, ideas, etc.) and demonstrate ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  11. Must always carry work phone while on duty; respond to phone calls, text messages, and emails in a timely manner.
  12. This position may require the employee to operate either a company owned or personal vehicle on behalf of the company; the company owned vehicle should always remain clean.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  1. Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language.
  2. Bilingual skills (Spanish) Preferred

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s Degree, and current certificate of clinical competence from the American Speech Language Hearing Association.
  • Current SLP license from the State of New Mexico.

Rate of Pay: $28.00- $36.00 per hour
