Position: Quality Technician

Duties & Responsibilities

The Quality Technician will apply various technologies to test and modify.

  • Performing product surface quality inspections, train operators, documenting and reporting defects to guarantee and maximize product conformance.
  • Using the SAP software daily. Some functions, but not limited to are:
    1. Reverse/change/ update dispositions in SAP
    2. Technically complete orders (teco)
    3. Maintaining the quality notification system (edit/revise/review data)
  • Allocating the scrap and 2A material in both SAP and physical locations
  • Setting up the re-work and re-apply processes in both SAP and physical production cards.
  • Data entry and maintenance of small & large pup coils databases
  • Maintaining the hold material protocol and the actions plan for the Q-point daily meetings.
  • Providing feed forward information for quality issues to the next operation processes
  • Evaluating product thickness by using the IMS Software
  • Supporting the toll process by providing product quality data
  • Using measuring devices, like calipers, micrometers, and roughness tester to evaluate product conformance.
  • Performing mill emulsion tests and documenting results.
  • Test materials before, during and after production to measure the characteristics of materials and ensure that they conform to specifications.
  • Responsible for inspecting and testing raw materials to make sure they meet required levels of quality.

Qualifications/Training:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proven ability to clearly communicate with engineering, technical support, sales, and management.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills, with proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of production and processing of cold rolled steel would be an advantage.
  • Be a self-motivated team player
