Vaupell is a global solutions provider for plastic parts and components for the medical, aerospace and defense industries with more than 75 years in business. We have 5 locations in the US, as well as operations in Europe and China. Our location in Constantine Michigan focuses primarily on medical devices. We have an immediate opening for a Plant Controller manager. We are looking for someone well versed in budgeting / forecasting and capable to assist in process improvement activities both within the finance area and supporting improvement activities in production and other areas.
Summary Description:
Work closely on a day to day basis with the Plant Manager and monthly with the regionally based corporate finance team.
- Work with the Plant Manager and site management team to develop and achieve long term financial objectives; support business decisions requiring a financial/business assessment.
- Establish accurate standard costs and inventory valuation for Manufacturing.
- Recommends benchmarks against which to measure the performance of Company operations.
- Calculates and issues financial and operating metrics
- Provide financial leadership for sales proposals.
- Ensure the completion of month-end close activities including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and reporting. Maintains fixed asset and depreciation data
- Coordinate and prepare monthly forecasting. Preparation of month end performance metrics.
- Prepare analyses for actual vs budget/forecast results monthly, including direct labor & material, labor reconciliation and utilization and OH monitoring. Communicate with division leadership to identify trends/corrective actions.
- Assist with the planning and execution of the physical inventory including analysis and reporting of results.
- Year-end preparation work.
- Manage the accounting staff to ensure success of all individuals in the department as well as achieving departmental goals and objectives
- Perform ad hoc projects and analyses as needed.
Requirements:
- Manufacturing environment, cost accounting, general ledger reporting experience required.
- Candidates should have 8+ years’ of progressively responsible experience
- Accounting or Finance degree required
- Ability to communicate to groups of people and with individuals at all levels within the organization.
- Work as a team member with local team
- Ability and desire to train and coach others to improve performance
- Strong analytical/critical thinking
- Work independent. Work with limited instruction.
