POSITION DESCRIPTION: DELIVERY SUPERVISOR
The Delivery Supervisor is responsible for training and evaluating all Delivery Drivers and performing the duties of a Relief Driver when necessary.
POSITION REQUISITES:
Must have a clear and valid Class A CDL license and must be able to lift 50lbs or more frequently.
MANAGEMENT:
- Continually monitor the Delivery Drivers in the areas of on-time deliveries, product rotation, stocking, retailer relations, and driving habits.
- Require all Delivery Drivers to follow their established call/stop sequences.
- Recommend to the Sales Manager(s) route re-alignments necessary to improve customer service.
- If necessary assign the Relief Drivers to ensure effective use of their time.
- Ride with each Delivery Driver twice per month to observe and improve their performance.
- Conduct skills training for all Delivery Drivers within the structure of work-withs, discussions, and meetings.
- Quarterly assist with the performance appraisal of each Delivery Driver.
- Spend at least 90 percent of your time in the market working with and training the Delivery Drivers.
- Have a working knowledge of each delivery route and fill in for vacations, sick days, and holiday weeks when necessary.
PRODUCT DELIVERY:
- Ensure your truck is properly loaded at all times to prevent damage to the product.
- Count your product loads out and in each day with the warehouse personnel making sure both counts are accurate and complete.
- Make all your deliveries according to the established route sequence.
- Avoid when possible deliveries during retailers' busy times.
- Ensure that products are being delivered and that which is already in the account are properly rotated within the cooler, displays, and backroom.
- Complete all paperwork neatly and according to established procedures.
- Safely handle all empties, pallets, and unsold products to prevent damage.
- Collect all funds due for the delivery of products and check them in according to established procedures.
TRUCK OPERATION:
- Prior to leaving the warehouse inspect your vehicle according to DOT regulations.
- Every Monday morning check all fluid levels on you truck.
- Obey all traffic laws when you are operating a company vehicle.
- Courtesy on the road is important at all times. Be polite to other drivers, it is a reflection on the image of the company.
- Park your truck so you do not interfere with the retailer's customers.
- Ensure your truck cab is clean and organized at all times.
- Ensure your truck is properly serviced and repaired on a timely basis.
- At your last stop load all empty pallets into one bay on each side of the truck.
- Remove and properly store all returned product and empties.
- Remove all trash, shrink-wrap and other debris from your truck at the end of each day.
- Wash your truck weekly or more often if needed.
ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT:
- Maintain a working relationship with the owners, managers, and employees of accounts.
- Demonstrate a sincere interest in the business success of each account.
- Have a positive attitude about all of your fellow employees when in discussions with retailers.
COMMUNICATIONS:
- Maintain open and clear communications with the owners, managers, and other employees of company.
- Maintain open and clear communications with the owners, managers, and employees of your retail accounts.
- Communicate to the General/Branch Manager all pertinent information regarding advertising, pricing, competitive activity, and sales trends.
POLICY AND PROCEDURES:
- Ensure proper rotation is in effect in all accounts.
- Dress and maintain your personal appearance in a professional manner and according to company policy.
- Conduct your activities according to the requirements of company policies and procedures.
- Conduct all your activities in accordance to local, state, and federal liquor control regulations.
- Report immediately to the President any traffic violations, on or off duty, that may affect your CDL and/or insurability.
- Report all serious accidents and injuries immediately to the General Manager.
- Perform all work activities in accordance to the established safe work practices, policies, and procedures.
