Job Description Quality Assurance Technician

Full time position is responsible for day to day quality assurance activities. Position offers a competitive salary and excellent benefits package (Health, dental, vision, prescription, and life insurance. 401 (k) and pension plan, paid holidays and vacation).

Job duties include:

Food Safety

  • Verify compliance to food safety programs:
    1. Allergen program
    2. Labeling program
    3. HACCP CCL (metal, temperature, foreign material etc.)
    4. SSOP and Pre-operation program
    5. Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Document, train and track mock recall program
  • Follow up on Food Incident Reports from consumers or customers and ensure preventative measures are implemented if appropriate

Product Compliance to Specification

  • Raw Material
    1. Ensure transportation requirements are compliant to food safety requirements.
    2. Correlation review on Transparency production logs- product lot code and label information.
    3. Ensure product meets specification including shelf life limits and temperature requirements
  • Finished Product
    1. Ensure products meet specification.
    2. Participate in sensory evaluation with regular tasting on new and existing products using appropriate methods which will include taste, texture and packaging evaluations.
    3. Adherence to formulations as it relates to ingredient security, material usage and monitoring.
    4. Document quality attributes and product temperatures.
    5. Liaison between other QA co-packer staff and QA staff members in determining acceptability and disposition of subpar product.
    6. Problem solve quality problems.

Organic Audits

  • Ensure verification of organic system program
  • Maintain records associated with verification (organic records, COAs, MSDS, rework records, etc.)
  • Coordinate and complete annual organic audit with third party auditor

Reporting Structure

  • Position has direct reporting to Quality Assurance job functionality, to the Quality Assurance Supervisor

Requirements

  • Quality Assurance background in a food manufacturing facility preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High School diploma required with some college courses helpful
  • Position requires excellent attention to detail and self management skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft office
  • Must be able to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and interact with different plant members as well as QA staff.
