JOB DESCRIPTION

The position is located in and will report out of the main office in Columbus, OH

Position Title: Mutual Aid and Sustainability Intern

Reports To: Vice President of Programs and Sustainability

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Basic Functions: Assist the Sustainability and Mutual Aid teams with routine tasks to assist AMP and our Members with Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) metrics, sustainability initiatives, emergency response protocols, and other matters as assigned.

Essential Functions:

1. Gather data and prepare reports for AMP’s sustainability reporting for use by AMP Members.

2. Perform and document reforestation site inspections- record tree growth, species and take photos.

3. Research trends in the electric utility industry and write articles summarizing them.

4. Identify reputable content to assist AMP Members prepare for emerging trends.

5. Collect and analyze data to monitor progress with sustainability initiatives.

6. Gather information on pollinator habitats and support a research project.

7. Gather information to help AMP Members be ready in the case of an extreme weather disaster.

8. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Qualifications:

1. Achievement of sophomore, junior or senior status at an accredited four year college or university.

2. Engineering, environmental science, or related scientific field of study is required.

3. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.

4. Must have strong math, science and analytical skills.

5. Must be highly accurate and detail oriented, posses the ability to meet deadlines and prioritize project workloads.

6. Must possess the ability to independently organize, prioritize and manage both workload and time.

7. Must possess the ability to periodically work independently without direct supervision and in a responsible manner.

8. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; ability to read, input and analyze data in Excel required.

9. Must possess valid driver’s license.

10. Some travel and/or field work may be required.
