SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Test & Prototype Lab Manager, the Test Lab Technician I is responsible for performing various duties at an efficient but safe pace within the Test Lab area according to the Standard Operating Procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Test pyrotechnic devices and assemblies and ensure safe and accurate performance on all tests

· Responsible for dimensional inspection of samples using calipers, micrometers, digital indicator and optical comparators according to Standard Operating Procedure

· Assemble prototype samples including but not limited to TIG welding, Laser welding ,injection molding and wire welding according to Standard Operating Procedure

· Review and approve Lot Acceptance tests for customer shipments

· Handle DSSA, Inc.’s product propellants such as powder loading of both ICL and OCL processes

· Perform detailed measurements using microscopes

· Perform teardown and cross sectioning of pyrotechnic devices

· Assist Project Engineers with product development

· Maintain a neat and clean work area and follow all established safety guidelines

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED required. Minimum 3 – 5 years working in a manufacturing environment and experience handling hazardous materials. Knowledge of electronic test equipment, dimensional equipment and prototype assembly and experience working with small parts, in a precise and repetitive manner a plus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to lighting and temperature as required for the office and manufacturing areas. Appropriate safety equipment is required by area. There is potential exposure to hazardous chemicals, including radiation. A considerable amount of moving from department to department may occur in unfavorable weather conditions. The employee is exposed to the inherent dangers of the explosive materials used in DSSA, Inc.’s manufacturing processes.

The employee occasionally is required to perform functions which require the manual operation of both general office productivity and test equipment as well as the ability to place, reach, detect, ascend/descend, and position self to navigate within confined working spaces. The employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position. The employee must occasionally move or transport up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close inspection, identification of objects from a distance, color determination, peripheral detection, depth judgment, and the ability to identify details in varying conditions.
