Position Summary: Lakeside Chautauqua is seeking to hire an experienced and dynamic Executive V.P. & Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) to oversee and manage the daily operations, provide strategic direction, and ensure the successful execution of our organizational goals and vision. This position requires a proactive, team-oriented leader who will prioritize our religion, education, cultural arts and recreation pillars each day. This highly visible position reports to the Chief Executive Officer. The CAO is a member of the Senior Leadership team and is the trusted partner to the CEO, lending financial and operational expertise across the organization, in parallel with our board members and other Senior Leadership. Working with the V. P. of Finance, the CAO will have ownership of operational, financial and administrative functions, providing visionary leadership to the organization.

This full-time position will complete a wide array of administrative and operations tasks which include overseeing the human resources, accounting and finance, municipal and campus services, and IT departments to ensure that each team meets their goals. You will play a critical role in our overall performance and will champion the organization’s core values culture and actively contribute to maintaining a positive and productive work environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Strategy, Planning and Management

  • Act as Chief Administrative Officer and strategic business partner to the CEO and the senior executive team
  • Work with the V.P. of Finance to advocate for Lakeside’s strategic interests and influence financial partners, including financial institutions, investors, foundation executives, auditors, public officials, and the Lakeside community
  • Create and establish yearly financial objectives that align with Lakeside’s long-term plans
  • Participate in pivotal decisions as they relate to strategic initiatives and operational models
  • Work with the V. P. of Finance to assess and evaluate financial performance of the organization with regard to long-term operational goals, budgets and forecasts
  • Provide insight and recommendations to both short-term and long-term financial plan of organization
  • Recruit, interview, hire, train and develop staff as required
  • Work with the V.P. of Finance to communicate strategy and financial results to the Lakeside community in layman’s terms

Financial Management and Governance

  • Ensure that Lakeside operates within the Board of Directors’ plans, initiatives, recommendations and delegation of authority
  • Implement policies, procedures, internal controls and processes necessary to ensure proper stewardship of Lakeside’s assets
  • Manage Lakeside’s risk management and insurance programs
  • Together with the V. P. of Finance, manage cash flow planning process and ensure funds availability; and
  • Oversee cash, investments and asset management; and
  • Represent Lakeside to banks, financial partners, investors, auditors and officials; and
  • Maintain outstanding banking relationships and strategic alliances with vendors and business partners
  • Utilize forward-looking models to provide financial insight into the organization’s plans and operating budgets

Operations

  • Verify that all employees are following IRS laws, SEC rules, and federal and state regulations
  • Set goals for departments and individual managers
  • Collaborate with colleagues to implement policies and develop improvements
  • Manage departmental operations
  • Oversee resource allocation and budgeting
  • Provide guidance to subordinate staff and evaluate performance
  • Resolve issues that may arise in a timely manner
  • Assist in other tasks (e.g. fundraising) as assigned


Education and/or Experience:

  • Proven experience as an administrative officer
  • Experience in operations management
  • Solid understanding of business functions (HR, finance etc.)
  • Knowledge of fiscal planning, budgeting and reporting
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability in decision-making and problem-solving
  • Excellent organizational and leaderships skills
  • BS/BA in business administration or relevant field; MBA is a plus

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions where only limited and standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Demands:

While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, balance; specific vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Spend a portion of the day sitting at a desk, working at a computer and also a portion of the day walking community and engaging with staff. Must be able to lift up to 5 pounds at times. The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
