Schedule: Full-Time

Location: Groton, CT Airport

Hourly: $20.10 in accordance with Labor Union Apprenticeship rates

Job Summary: Waters Construction Company is searching for a 1st year apprentice to alternate between flagger and gate guard duties.

 

What You’ll Do:

Flagger:

  • Use hand signals and directional signs to direct traffic around road construction sites.
  • Communicate with other flaggers using hand-held radios to direct two-way traffic onto a single lane.
  • Inform the construction crew of any traffic issues that may affect their safety.
  • Appropriately position warning and detour signs around construction sites.
  • Set up signs, barricades, and traffic cones along construction sites as needed.
  • Remove all signs, barricades, and traffic cones upon completion of construction work.
  • Assist the construction crew in the removal of rubble, debris, and hazardous materials.

 

Gate Guard:

  • Monitor vehicles and personnel entering and exiting the job site.
  • Properly document vehicles and guests arriving on site.
  • Direct visitors as needed.
  • Remain in designated area to monitor visitors for the duration of the shift.

 

What You’ll Need:

  • Valid Osha 10
  • Valid CT License
  • Ability to work on-site in Groton, CT for the foreseeable future
  • Reliable transportation to and from work
  • Be prompt and on time every day, prepared for work
  • Be organized and reliable
  • Physical stamina

 

Nice to Have:

  • Valid Flagger Certification from American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA)
