About the RoleThe Facilities Engineer is a professional position that is responsible for safe, proper, and efficient operation of the entire plant facilities at the AESC Battery Plant production facility. Provides engineering support to assigned areas in manufacturing, maintenance, and facility operations. Recommends, plans, coordinates, documents, and implements plant and process control systems on a company wide basis. Perform system evaluations of facilities. Develops specifications for new models and modifications to existing models to improve production uptime in assigned areas. Coordinates with contractors in assigned areas to provide engineering support, technical assistance, and training. Communicates with suppliers to provide guidelines, specifications, and engineering support to ensure AESC goals of quality, cost, time, and delivery. Creates and manages a budget. Contributes to building brand value and achieving enduring profitable growth. What You Will Do
  • Assigns and schedules work tasks with other facility technicians in a team-oriented environment and performs initial evaluations of building systems and distributes work assignments.
  • Coordinates and follows up on preventative maintenance on refrigeration units, plumbing, electrical, overhead doors, and any other mechanical systems.
  • Coordinates and assists in repairs involving basic electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems.
  • Reads blueprints and plans projects to complete assigned tasks, and coordinates and follows up on incidental carpentry, masonry, painting, and plaster work.
  • Ensures all equipment, facility systems, and utilities in assigned areas are in an acceptable state of operation and repair.
  • Provides specification, design, and installation support for manufacturing and facility operations.
  • Monitors and records predictive maintenance measures and works cooperatively with outside vendors.
  • Provides system problem-solving; ensures continuous reliability and uptime improvement, accuracy and ease of use enhancements, analysis of trends and symptoms, and identification of missing or misleading information in assigned areas.
  • Maintains compliance with 5S, IATF16949, VDA 6.3, and ISO14001 standards, while proactively identifying and addressing safety concerns to prevent accidents.
What You Need
  • A four-year degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or Engineering Technology is required.
  • A minimum of seven years of related experience at a professional level is required.
  • Advanced knowledge of word processor, spreadsheet, other PC applications, or mainframe applications to create specialized applications or products of a highly technical nature.
  • Must be a self-motivated individual with good written and verbal communication skills and Data-Driven Decision-Making skills.
  • Independent, driven, eager to learn, have strong time management skills, and the ability to manage simultaneous and often changing priorities.
  • Must have good understanding of root cause analysis (RCA), problem-solving techniques, and process control management for quality and throughput issue resolution.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, welding, and mechanical fields
  • Able to work and lead contractors through the process of RFP to commissioning of equipment.
  • Must have above-average troubleshooting and computer skills and be capable of working without close supervision.
What is “Nice to Have”?
  • Experience in a high-volume manufacturing facility preferred.
  • Automotive OEM or Tier 1 Supplier experience a plus
  • New model experience and equipment design, installation, and commissioning a plus
  • New plant design, build, and commissioning is a plus.
  • Proficiency in additional languages beyond English is advantageous, as it aligns with our global operations and enhances communication with diverse stakeholders.
  • Previous experience working in cross-cultural environments, or a demonstrated understanding of cultural nuances would be beneficial, given our global presence and diverse team.
  • Experience or familiarity with the dynamics of start-up environments, showcasing an ability to thrive in agile and fast-paced settings.

Work Environment

The work environment is primarily an automated manufacturing plant with a concrete floor and is characterized by some temperature extremes, moderate noise, and forklift traffic.
