Job Purpose:
Under the general direction of the Machine Shop Lead, you will be responsible for the operation of a CNC Lathe. As a machinist, you will loads parts into the machine, operate the machine, and also detect any malfunctions that may arise throughout machine operation.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform set up of complex parts on a CNC Lathe
  • Operate CNC multi-axis machines
  • Load and unload raw material and machined parts with close attention to detail
  • Accurately perform basic program changes and tool path modifications as required
  • Effectively run multiple machines simultaneously when required
  • Possess an advanced understanding of blueprint diagrams including features and dimensions; precise interpretation of GD&T
  • Perform inspections and measurements utilizing micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other appropriate inspection methods and tools to ensure machined part dimensions, features, and tolerance requirements are met per print specifications
  • Effectively manage machining time to include in-process inspection, deburring, and tapping of holes as required
  • Follow all paperwork and documentation procedures including but not limited to: machine maintenance logs, work orders, inspection reports, non-conformance reports, and others as required
  • Ensure communication flow down of pertinent details on all jobs utilizing any means necessary; verbal, team meeting, taking notes, documenting instructions, documentation in lesson learned log, etc.
  • Conduct job teardowns by removing tools, organizing tool carts, and returning materials to their proper location
  • Maintain a high regard for quality workmanship and compliance to customer requirements
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition
  • Comply with all quality requirements while continually maintaining and improving the effectiveness of the quality management system
  • Look for opportunities to learn and share your knowledge and skills
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Job Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of CNC Operator experience with demonstrated ability to set up basic jobs is preferred
  • Intermediate knowledge of CNC machine capabilities, controls, G&M code, material properties, and set-up techniques
  • Advanced understanding of blueprint dimensions and features; advanced knowledge of GD&T
  • Intermediate computer navigation and software skills including Microsoft Office with the ability to learn HSM programming
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
  • Ability to effectively present information and participate in discussions with groups of peers
  • Ability to effectively communicate with coworkers, customers, and suppliers
  • Ability to work with general mathematical concepts
  • Ability to learn new mathematical skills that are necessary to read and understand engineered drawings
  • Must have, or have the ability to obtain a US Passport

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and stand, walk, use fine finger manipulation, use hands to handle and grasp, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb and balance, bend, stoop, twist, and/or crouch. Overtime may be required to meet project deadlines.
