Job Description
Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Special Security Officer to work in our Secure Operations department. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out multiple in town and site facilities in Idaho Falls with every other Friday off. You will report to the manager of the Secure Operations department. The Special Security Officer (SSO) for FIE and INL secured facilities provides day to day support, with very limited direction from management, and takes responsibility for compliant and secure operations of INL facilities. This position includes responsibilities for programs within N&HS facilities. Your secondary role is to support resolution of general physical security issues, e.g., Communications Security (COMSEC), TEMPEST, INL Safeguards and Security liaison, ICS CERT and project security support for N&HS. Responsibilities Include:
- High ethical integrity, performance and stewardship according to the N&HS mission and philosophy for simultaneous excellence for balanced priorities of mission accomplishment and community service.
- Stewardship of assigned resources (e.g., equipment) and protection of information (e.g. proprietary, business sensitive, personnel, official use only, classified).
- Implement assigned responsibilities within defined expectations, cost scope and schedule.
- Report updates on project execution and management goals.
- Compliance with applicable Intelligence orders, directives, procedures and reporting, as well as compliance within collateral classified facilities and systems.
- Active identification and appropriate action to mitigate workplace security risks
- Personally display and reinforce behaviors in others that encourage a security incident free workplace, protecting both yourself and others as well as display and foster a questioning attitude.
- PR0100 - Bachelor's degree or 8 year's equivalent experience in lieu of degree. PR0200 - Bachelor's degree and 2 years experience or 10 year's equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
- Knowledgeable and experienced in two or more of the following security disciplines: personnel security, physical security, information security, industrial, or information systems security.
- In-depth knowledge of SSO procedures, and knowledge of general security policies is required.
- Knowledge of and experience working for/or in the IC. Knowledge of IC rules, regulations and executive orders pertaining to security and foreign intelligence information.
- Knowledge of the security administration and management of DOE, DOD or IC special access programs, or other extremely sensitive types of information.
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
- Salary Grade: example: PR0100 - 170 ($57,108 - $91,440)
- Salary Grade: example: PR0200 - 180 ($64,272 - $102,840)
