Job Description
SUMMARY: Responsible for preparing and plating food, using recipes and menu items
created by the owners. Helps keep the kitchen running smoothly.
ESSTENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assisting with stocking and setting up the kitchen stations.
Preparing food including cleaning and cutting the ingredients and cooking main dishes, desserts, appetizers and salads.
Plating prepared foods based on set guidelines.
Works on different stations as directed.
Works with servers to ensure that orders are completed according to request and on time.
Washing and cleaning the kitchen and cooking utensils and storing the equipment at the end of shifts.
Ensuring that the kitchen operation procedures and hygiene meet food safety standards and regulations.
Date labels all food products according to safety requirements.
Applies food safety requirements consistently.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience
High School diploma or equivalent, culinary certification/vocational school a plus
Two years previous line cook experience in a restaurant (non fast-food) environment.
Requirements and Skills:
Must have active Food Handler’s/Safe Serve Certificate.
Must be familiar with different methods of chopping vegetables, dividing meat, filleting fish and combining salads, herbs and spices, along with how to portion dishes and work with precision to bring recipes to life.
Ability to follow instructions.
Strong kitchen administration knowledge and ability to work as part of a team.
Strong organization and active listening skills.
The ability to work on one’s feet for most of the day and lift 40 pounds at a time.
Exceptional time management skills.
Know the safe and proper methods of operating different kitchen appliances and utensils.
