Job Description:
As the Warehouse Operations Manager, you will oversee all aspects of warehouse operations, including pick/pack, shipping, inventory management, trucking transportation, building and equipment maintenance, supplies management, and supervision of warehouse personnel. Reporting directly to our Canadian-based director, you will have a high level of autonomy and responsibility in running the warehouse operations efficiently and effectively.
Shift Hours: 8 am-4 pm
Business Operations Hours: 7 am-5 pm
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning and Execution: Develop and implement strategies to optimize warehouse operations, improve efficiency, and meet customer demand.
- Team Leadership: Source, supervise, and mentor warehouse staff; providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations to ensure a high-performing team.
- Logistics Coordination: Coordinate with third-party logistics providers and transportation companies to ensure smooth delivery of products and efficient management of transportation routes.
- Inventory Management: Maintain inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts, inventory reconciliation, and effective inventory control measures. Ensure proper rotation of inventory using FIFO methods.
- Safety and Compliance: Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, such as customer service, sales, and marketing, to align warehouse operations with overall company goals and meet customer demands.
- Financial Management: Monitor and control warehouse expenses to meet budgetary targets while ensuring operational efficiency.
- Facility Maintenance: Oversee building and equipment maintenance to ensure proper functioning and compliance with safety standards.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a warehouse management or operations role within the warehousing and distribution space.
- Proven track record of leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
- Certification in operating reach trucks as well as other warehouse equipment is required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with team members, stakeholders, and external partners.
- Dependable and trustworthy, with a commitment to delivering results and meeting deadlines.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with limited direct supervision, and willingness to adapt to changing priorities and challenges.
- Experience with inventory management software is required, experience with Sage 300 is a plus.
- Post secondary education in Business Administration, Operations Management or related field
