About the job:

In accordance with the Mission and Guiding Behaviors; the System Educator, within the scope of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, functions within the standards, policies, procedures and guidelines of the organization. The System Educator will provide support to system education and practice initiatives including providing consultation and education to clinical colleagues regarding practice changes that directly impact care of patients at the bedside. Implementation and oversight of system based intiatives including patient care services policies and competencies, assistance with system based registered nurse orientation and facilitation of nurse residency seminars.

What you'll do:

  • Provides nursing care, ensures an environment of patient safety, promotes evidence-based practice and quality initiatives and exhibits professionalism in nursing practice within the model of the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®.
  • Promotes evidence-based practice to ensure optimal care delivery. Ensures standardization of nursing practice and supports development of evidence-based practices consistent with national standards.
  • Acts as a leader in monitoring, evaluating and helping to establish the standard of practice.
  • Develops, implements and maintains policy organization system.
  • Reviews, and revises standards of care, policies, procedures, practice guidelines, education courses, and protocols to reflect current evidence based practice and changing technology.
  • Obtains feedback, problem solves and is a change agent for the organization; demonstrates extraordinary ability to perform the technical skills of the job; and prioritizes competing priorities.
  • Collaborates in the design and improvement of system processes and identification and alignment of resources to ensure an efficient and culturally sensitive practice environment.
  • Participates in monitoring, evaluating, reporting and improving standards of care.
  • Promotes, participates in, or conducts on-going research in clinical practice.
  • Coordinates the orientation of new staff members.
  • Utilizes appropriately and demonstrates continuous learning.

What we're looking for:

  • Education: Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited program. Internal candidates may hold a BSN if a MS is in progress.
  • Licensure / Certification: Current licensure to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Ohio; Professional certification preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years recent experience in clinical education.
  • Effective Communication Skills
  • Demonstrates a commitment to professional development through membership in professional organizations.
  • Demonstrates awareness of current nursing trends, initiatives, and related evidence-based practice that impact education.
  • Commitment to a high standard of nursing care.
  • Understanding of teaching and learning in a health care environment with demonstrated clinical teaching and facilitation skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with problem solving ability.
  • Act as an effective role model for staff, through mentoring and education in an endeavor to achieve optimal staff development and service outcomes.
  • High level computer literacy.
  • Ability to function as an interdisciplinary team member and manage stressful situations effectively.
  • BLS Healthcare Provider training required.
