Project/Product Engineer

Position Summary: Sustaining engineering focuses on the maintenance and continuous improvement of products through their entire lifecycle. Sustaining engineering enables ongoing design improvements based on internal team and external user feedback, as well as applicable industry developments and innovations. The Project / Product Engineer will work closely with the Sales, Customer Service, Marketing, Purchasing, Quality Assurance, and Operations teams to facilitate the successful implementation of assigned engineering projects into the main-stream product line.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Provides project leadership to improve existing products and associated manufacturing processes.
• Independently research solutions, troubleshoot and resolve complex problems by analyzing product data.
• Provide engineering knowledge and oversight to resolve manufacturing and quality related problems with existing products.
• Evaluate new suppliers of existing parts, as well as new products.
• Ensures product designs are in compliance to applicable codes.
• Create engineering documentation.
• Work with the quality engineer creating validation plans, test procedures and necessary support documentation for product or manufacturing validation.
• Completing competitive analysis.
• Performing product testing.
• Working with other departments such as Sales, Customer Service, Marketing, Operations, Purchasing and Finance.
• Review Engineering drawings, manuals, artwork, etc. prior to release.
• Lead the release of Engineering Change Notices (ECN’s).
• Support Engineering management and personnel with other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Requires BS in Engineering or Engineering Technology; Mechanical or Electrical preferred.
• 0 to 5 years work experience in similar field preferred.
• Organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task.
• A strong willingness and desire to learn (self-learner) and to stretch competencies.
• Intelligent Risk taking, Integrated thinking, strong leadership, strong problem solving, and technical communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all company personnel, suppliers and customers.
• Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook, SolidWorks.

Preferred (not required)

• Understand PLC logic and controls for automated manufacturing.
• Experience in electronic/mechanical assembly desired.
• Proficiency assembling per mechanical drawings.
