STATUS: Home Health Aide Part-Time (25 hrs. max.)
LOCATION OF WORK: 1699 W. Mound St. & Client Homes
REPORTS TO: Nurse Manager
SHIFT: Monday – Friday between 7am – 3pm (Varies per day)

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Home Health Aide is responsible for performing personal care and homemaker services based on a nurse’s assessment of the client’s needs. This position is also responsible for providing respite and private duty care. The services are provided under the direction of the Manager of Patient Services in the Help at Home Program. Duties are assigned by agency policies and program policies of practice. Work performed in this position will be of a complex, paraprofessional, confidential and often health related nature. Work requires an attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills, flexibility, and an ability to handle multiple tasks. This position will have frequent contact with agency personnel and Home Care clients. A positive and cooperative image and attitude is crucial for this position. This position requires a significant amount of independence, prudent decision-making, self-direction and self-discipline to accomplish its essential functions and responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of high school. Prefer completion of the National Home Health Aide test and the skills demonstration written skills assessment test; however, will consider applicants otherwise qualified with Certification Program including home health aide understanding that certification must be attained within two months of hire to retain position. Ability to lift, transfer and move clients, ability to lift 30 pounds using proper body mechanics. Current CPR certification, possession of a vehicle available for agency use, a valid Ohio driver’s license, a safe driving record, and adequate auto insurance. Able to be flexible, accept changes, adapt to different personalities, and function within a wide variety of environments, cultures and/or personal belief systems. Ability to accurately document client care provided and observations according to the care plan. Able to communicate with clients, caregivers, family members, peers and nurses. Knowledge of procedures/techniques necessary to perform personal care and hygiene services to clients in the home. Maintain good personal hygiene and health habits.
