JOB SUMMARY

The Nantahala Outdoor Center is seeking a part time Night Security Officer that will be responsible for upholding the company’s safety and security polices during late night/early morning hours. The position will also be the main point of contact for lodging guest after normal business hours to assist them with their needs. This position reports to the Lodging Manager.


Responsibilities

  • Patrol NOC Wesser property, including staff housing when required, with priority to guest and employee safety and protection of NOC buildings and assets
  • Respond and initiate contact with emergency personnel in the event of a medical emergency, fire, or law enforcement situations when needed
  • Serve as guest contact for resolution of problems that may arise during shift, which may include making keys, fixing plumbing issues, or providing last minute request for additional in room amenities. Properly log each of these problems to make sure they are evaluated and resolved for the future
  • Ensure smooth communication with the after-hours company
  • Check all buildings/doors including paddling school, restaurants, retail, and offices after closing hours to make sure they are locked and secured, and ensure that they are occupied by authorized personnel only
  • Perform routine repair and maintenance requests as needed to enhance the guest experience.
  • Enforce lodging policies with NOC guests, including quiet hours, alcohol possession/consumption, and firearm possession
  • Able to handle crisis situations calmly and effectively when necessary
  • Uphold NOC designated no camping policy in non-designated areas
  • Repair, report, and coordinate with lodging manager any emergency building maintenance problems
  • Report all incidents, emergencies, and non-emergencies, in the Night Security Log
  • Assist staff with evening night drops to accounting as requested
  • Periodically patrol for any concerns or issues of the facilities, grounds, equipment, or vehicles may have
  • Make sure that the property is well maintained after close, collect any unwanted debris
  • Provide excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

Required

  • Ability to maintain a clean and neat appearance
  • Previous experience with Guest service and Maintenance
  • Must have a valid North Carolina driver’s license or ability to maintain, and a reliable personal vehicle
  • Must have a clean driving record
  • Must pass criminal background check
  • Ability to work independently
  • Must be able to work 3rd shift
  • Must be at least 21 years old

Preferred

  • Prior experience as Security or Night Attendant, Repair and Maintenance or past law enforcement experience
  • Prior experience working directly with guests in a customer service role
