Community Action Partnerships of Western Nebraska (CAPWN) is a non-profit community-based health and human services organization that serves low-income, disadvantaged and those unable to meet their needs through other sources. The agency was established in 1965 and provides services to over 9,000 individuals, children, and families in three main areas:

  • Community Health Services: WIC, Commodity Supplemental Food, Foster Grandparents, Migrant Seasonal Head Start, and Child Development Center.

Psychiatric Services Medical Support Staff

Full-time, Daytime Hours, Monday through Friday! Off all Major Holidays!

Areas of Responsibilities: Assist behavioral health patients for the duration of their clinical visit. Provide interpretation services for behavioral health patients.

Major Duties:

  1. Play an active role in patient services using the provider led, team-based Patient Centered Medical Home Care Model.
  2. Work with Psychiatric Services team to achieve and maintain high level of client care, by helping patients receive services in an efficient, effective, and courteous manner, delivered in the patient’s preferred language and supporting patient care that is “accessible, continuous, comprehensive, evidence-based, family-centered, coordinated, compassionate, and culturally effective.”
  3. Is accessible and visibly present to members of Psychiatric Service team during clinic hours.
  4. Provides triage and patient flow assistance to all providers. Administers standard screening and outcome measures instruments.
  5. Facilitates Primary Care provider and patient requests for same-day and future consultations with the Psychiatric Services providers.
  6. Assists the Psychiatric Services providers in scheduling patient follow up appointment.
  7. Assures availability, in the patient’s preferred language, of patient education and other materials related to Psychiatric Services.
  8. Manages and coordinates referrals to specialty Psychiatric Services which including Mental Health and Substance Abuse services.
  9. Maintains up-to-date contact information about commonly used community resources.
  10. Supports patient in obtaining legal services and benefits advocacy services as requested by the Psychiatric Service providers.
  11. Completes selected sections of commonly used forms and assist patient in accurately form completion.
  12. Follow clinic procedures for optimal client care, which includes but is not limited to;
      1. Implementing procedures for accurate and timely maintenance of client’s electronic medical chart, which includes but is not limited to reviewing electronic medical chart and noting what forms are needed or need to be updated.
      2. Answering telephones, preparation of charts for clients next day appointment, appointment reminder calls to all patients for next day appointments. Adjust schedules accordingly.
      3. Maintaining confidentiality of Community Action Health Center patient information, medical records and communications per agency policies and procedures.
      4. Entering client data into Health Center current electronic medical record (EMR) system.
      5. Attending meetings, in-services and training as required.
      6. Participating in ongoing Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement activities.

Working Conditions:

  • Well-lit, temperature-controlled clinical setting, with standard medical and office equipment available.
  • Work is frequently stressful and requires meeting tight deadlines.
  • Work in a highly volatile program in a state of change with many interruptions and interactions.
  • Must be able to work irregular hours.
  • The noise level in the work environment is above average.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to frequently bend, stoop, squat, walk and pull drawers.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate office and medical equipment.
  • Must regularly talk, hear and have close vision ability to record and communicate appropriate documents and records.
  • Occasionally lifting and carrying up to 50 [CR6] pounds.


Minimum Qualifications:

Grade: 11

  1. High School diploma or GED.
  2. Basic Nursing Assistant Certification or Medication Aide
  3. Knowledge of office procedures and methods including telephone communications, office systems and record keeping, use of computer with at least one year of experience.
  4. Strong interpersonal and initiative skills.
  5. Requires proficient level of oral and written communication skills.
  6. Physically and mentally able to perform duties.
  7. Bilingual in Spanish and English Preferred.

Grade: 12

  1. Meet the minimum qualifications above:
  2. Medical Assistant Certification or two years’ experience in office procedures and data entry.

Grade: 13

  1. Meet the minimum qualifications above.
  2. AA degree in business or related field with three years CSR experience, preferably in a health clinic setting.
