Head Athletic Coach

2024-2025 School Year


Qualifications:

  1. Valid Iowa Coaching License
  2. Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program
  3. Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and continuous examination of new theories and procedures pertinent to the sport.

Job Goal:

Instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategies and physical training to realize a degree of individual and team success. Provide athletes with instruction that leads to the formulation of moral values, pride of accomplishments, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline and self-confidence.


Performance Duties:

  1. Have a thorough knowledge of all athletic policies approved by the South Central Calhoun Board of Education and be responsible for their implementation by the entire staff of the sports program.
  2. Provide training rules and any other unique regulations of the sport to each participant.
  3. Determine that each participant has read and understands the guidelines set forth in the Good Conduct Eligibility Policy. Verify with the respective principal's office that each participant has on file a signed consent form from the Good Conduct Policy prior to the first practice of the season.
  4. Develop fundamental skills of the respective sport.
  5. Develop strong team strategies.
  6. Work to develop individual potential for all team members, e.g. citizenship, character.
  7. Monitor student athlete's grades and conduct.
  8. Implement procedures concerning injuries, medical attention and emergencies.
  9. Notify parents and complete paperwork on athletic injuries on proper forms and submit reports to the activities director within forty-eight hours of the injury or accident.
  10. Direct student managers, assistants and statisticians.
  11. Determine discipline; delineate procedures concerning due process when the enforcement of discipline is necessary and contact parents when a student is dismissed.
  12. Assist athletes in their college or advanced educational selections, as needed.
