Position Summary:
The Nothing Bundt Cakes (NbC) Bakery Team Leader (BTL) works alongside the Bakery Assistant Manager and team members to create the highest-quality cakes, a warm, welcoming environment and meeting production demands. The BTL ensures quality by following strict proprietary recipes, NbC production methods and food safety standards, and performs the repeated baking process for our delicious cakes offered in a variety of flavors and sizes. The BTL ensures that frosting and cakes of the highest quality are consistently created for our guests and contributes to superior service by meeting production demands. The BTL shares in team leadership and collaborates with the Bakery Assistant Manager in following our cake-frosting methods and food safety standards, executing day-to-day responsibilities and ensuring that all aspects of the bakery operation comply with NbC and store standards. This role embodies and demonstrates a strong commitment to excellence and efficiency in the workplace.

Accountabilities/Duties:
  • Effectively utilizes measuring instruments, commercial-grade mixers and ovens, and other tools to bake and frost cakes.
  • Accurately & safely prepares raw ingredients and equipment for baking and frosting cakes.
  • Adheres to the proper packaging, labeling and storage of baked cakes as well as product rotation standards, and maintains baking and refrigeration logs and cake inventory.
  • Evaluates raw ingredients and baked cakes to ensure NbC standards are met and informs management of any quality control issues.
  • Cleans, sanitizes and restocks workstation and ensures all baking and frosting supplies are sufficiently prepared for the next shift. This includes tables, equipment and tools.
  • Complies with all health and safety guidelines and NbC policies and procedures, including strict adherence to dress code and personal hygiene.
  • Assists bakery management in executing operational and administrative duties, which may include cake production plans, productivity goal setting, team scheduling, supply ordering, and labor reporting.
  • Co-facilitates the opening and the closing of the bakery, including cash-drawer balancing and bank deposits.
  • Supports bakery management in recruiting, selecting, and training team members, directing daily work responsibilities, and providing performance feedback and coaching.
  • Maintains a consistent work attendance and punctuality record.
  • Abide by all NBC policies and procedures
  • Communicate with management about equipment including problems and maintenance as well as ensuring all regular maintenance is performed.
  • Order and receive groceries

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Is able to understand written and oral directions, interpret instructional documents such as recipes, operating procedures, and health and safety rules, and apply knowledge to perform job responsibilities.
    • Please note that NbC recipes are available in English and Spanish.
  • Understands basic units of measurement used in the U.S.
  • Has the ability to perform repetitious, physical tasks that require the strength to lift items of moderate to heavy weight (as much as 50 pounds) and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Is able to operate commercial-grade ovens and other bakery equipment and work adjacent to a high-heat source.
  • Is meticulous about using exact measurements, paying strict attention to timing and working on a tight, fast-paced production schedule.
  • Can evaluate products, processes, information, and surroundings to determine compliance with standards.
  • Possesses the discipline and attention to detail to strictly adhere to health and safety practices and work environment standards.
  • Is diligent, organized and self-motivated, with the ability to operate independently with minimal supervision.
  • Possess a strong sense of teamwork
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues and coach team members.
  • Has the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to multitask while paying special attention to detail
  • Possess ability to forecast business needs and perform accordingly.

Education, Certifications and Work Experience Requirements:
  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
  • While no formal education is required, previous experience (1-3 years) in an operational support role at a bakery, restaurant or foodservice environment is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role preferred.
