SUMMARY
As an employee/owner at MEC, you will find ways to eliminate wastefulness in production processes. Devise efficient ways to use workers, machines, materials, information, and energy to make products in a contract manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as deemed necessary.

    Is responsible for sample job or first article part releases related to one or more specific manufacturing processes and ensures a robust process is developed at production startup.
  • Has internal engineering responsibility for assigned production departments. Responsibilities include process reviews, process documentation, review of non-conforming material and product/process improvement activities.
  • Serves as a liaison between the shop floor and the Sales group pertaining to customer requests and changes.
  • Participates in DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DPAR (Design Process Assembly Review) activities as required.
  • Reviews blueprints, plans and other customer documents used to develop and prepare cost estimates or projected changes in production from customer's use of MEC's services.
  • Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.
  • Responsible for CI (continuous improvement) activities related to a specific process.
  • Issues written setup and process sheets for operations. These will be known as setup sheets, work instructions, checklists, and run charts.
  • Perform work station audits as assigned and drive corrective action where necessary.
  • Determine methods of rework when necessary.
  • Support Root Cause & Corrective Action efforts related to specific processes.
  • Identify and make proposals for new technology.
  • Develop ROI's (Return on Investment) related to new technology recommendations.
  • Know and provide training related to specific processes.
  • Confer with Sales and Manufacturing to provide technical advice and problem resolution.
  • Recommend method revisions including process equipment, materials and tooling to improve production performances and provide cost reduction opportunities.
  • Review and analyze customer part prints, specifications and other documentation to develop production quotations covering a specific process. This will include production rates, set-up time, and tooling requirements.
  • Provide backup and / or cover other areas for Manufacturing Engineers as required due to vacation, illness, ...etc...

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Engineering, preferably Industrial or Mechanical from a four-year college or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferably in a metal fabrication environment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations written in English. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals in English. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in English from groups of managers, customers, or other employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
