The Data Engineer will be the steward for structured data for Advia Credit Union. They will collaborate with the Infrastructure Team and third-party vendors to design, manage, build, and maintain the structured data solutions for Advia Credit Union. Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assembles large, complex sets of data that meet non-functional and functional business requirements.
  • Accountable for development for data movement, quality and cleansing, as well as creating automated processes to validate and translate data for storage in the enterprise data warehouse.
  • Designs, builds, and maintains sustainable and scalable data solutions consistent with defined standards and practices.
  • Serves as a key stakeholder and partner in all aspects Data Governance, and champion Data Governance processes and tools.
  • Works effectively with internal stakeholders to meet the data needs of the business, translating business needs into technical requirements.
  • Creates and ensures updating of information and data flow diagrams in conjunction with Technical Architect.
  • Designs policies for structured data management within the guidelines provided by regulatory boundaries as well as the retention schedule set forth by the Advia Risk department.
  • Manages internal and external partnerships by providing guidance to data usage for reporting specialists throughout Advia Credit Union.
  • Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Additionally, all employees must follow policies and procedures to minimize risk by exercising judgment, raising questions to management, and adhering to policy guidelines.

Requirements

Experience

Five years to eight years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience such as: Three to five years' experience in design, development and support of data pipelines Three to five years' experience with T-SQL One to three years' experience in designing data models.


Education/Certification/Licenses

A college degree. Microsoft Certified: SQL Server Database Development Associate (or equivalent).


Other Skills

Strong SQL programming skills, particularly Microsoft SQL Server Strong experience in BI tools like SSIS, SSRS, SSAS Familiarity with Azure Cloud Infrastructure Familiarity with designing data models.


Interpersonal Skills

The ability to motivate or influence internal or external senior level professionals is a critical part of the job, requiring a significant level of influence and trust. Obtaining cooperation and agreement on important outcomes via frequently complex, senior level dialogues, as well as a professional level of written communication skills are essential to the position.


Physical Requirements

Is able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.


Working Conditions

Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.
