CIVIL ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN

JOB SUMMARY

Toman Engineering Company is located in Mandan, ND and has been providing consulting civil engineering and surveying services throughout Central North Dakota for over 75 years.

We are currently seeking a Civil Engineering Technician to join our team! The Civil Engineering Technician is responsible for working independently under general supervision to operate survey equipment, perform routine surveying tasks, and drafting using AutoCAD.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Gather field data and general surveying (land & construction)
• Become familiar with the plans and specifications, maps, and related material for each project and be able to utilize the information appropriately
• Prepare reports and document project activities and data
• Drafting/Design of technical drawings using AutoCAD, Civil 3D and other software
• Assist in project design, review, and documentation
• Assist in civil engineering projects and water resources studies
• Communicate effectively and consistently with project managers and clients
• Working and communicating with other team members

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

• Familiar with Trimble GIS survey equipment and TBC data collector software
• Working knowledge and willing to become proficient in AutoCAD and Civil 3D
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc)
• Effective verbal/written communication skills
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and have organization skills
• Valid driver’s license & clean driving record

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Years of Experience: 1-3 years of experience preferred
• Associate’s Degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Land Surveying and/or Drafting Technology - or - in process of obtaining degree

JOB TYPE

• Full Time – or – Part-Time availability if enrolled in College pursuing Surveying or Civil Engineering Degree
