Summer Camp Staff - Summer 2024

SUMMARY:
All staff are responsible for being positive role models for campers, establishing a relationship with each camper and working towards the goal of group cohesiveness. In addition, counselors must have an understanding and willingness to abide by the camp's philosophy, mission and objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
 Leadership Training
o Participation at all sessions of Staff Orientation
o Participation at all Unit and Staff meetings
o Ability to ask for assistance as needed from Unit Leader
o Develop strong leadership skills including the ability to be a problem solver
o Develop appropriate discipline measures for campers

 Supervision
o Responsible for the safety of assigned camper groups on a daily basis and during camp-wide field trips and special events
o Establish a positive rapport & understanding of each individual camper
o Must be changed into bathing suit prepared to swim every day & assist with assigned swim group
o Take an active role in maintaining the cleanliness of the camp community

 Programming
o Create a well-rounded creative weekly schedule with the input of campers
o Plan age-appropriate group activities for open mods
o Develop & implement weekly Unit programs
o Develop & implement 2 overnight or stay late special event themes within Unit team
o Implement activities that will encourage group cohesion
o Develop weekly plans for assigned Chugim (camper hobby groups)
o Active participation for camp-wide special events & trips

 Administrative Duties
o Understand and accept the Camp's philosophy and objectives and work towards its fulfillment
o Participation at all staff meetings
o Completion of written materials as requested, such as:
 Accurate daily attendance
 Weekly schedule
 Weekly notes to parents
 Requisitions for materials requested
 Accurate daily lunch and snack counts

Pay starting at $14.80 an hour
