Highway Dept. Mechanic

The Clark County Highway Department is taking applications for a full time equipment mechanic. Applicants will be responsible for performing skilled and semi-skilled mechanical work in maintenance of all County equipment and vehicles. Typical duties and responsibilites include: welding, repair and maintain equipment and vehicles, use test diagnositic equipment, operate pay loaders, trucks, scrapers, motor graders and tractors as needed, plan and coordinate on work schedule and time management, maintain inventory and part records, pick up and deliver parts, supplies and equipment as needed, maintain shop and perform duties in a manner consistent with safe practices. Minimum qualifications include a two (2) year mechanic experience/ and or a combination of education and experience may be acceptable, valid SD Commercial Drivers license, proficient in welding and operation of shop equipment. Must be able to work outdoors in all kinds of weather, must be able to life heavy objects, reaching up to and over 85 pounds, use hand tooks, be able to work without a supervisor and have the ability to work well with others and get along with the general public. This position is open until filled. Current starting wage is $22.40 with a four day work week, Monday through Thursday.
