Aspen Careers, LLC is working with a downtown Columbus firm looking to hire a Collections Specialist.

The Position

Primary responsibilities will include the following:

  • Building partnerships with the firm's attorneys to improve client collection efforts.
  • Reviewing receivable portfolio status and suggesting necessary collection actions.
  • Establishing working relationships with clients to address outstanding balances and provide required documentation for prompt payment.
  • Documenting collection activities, scheduling follow-ups, and generating reports.
  • Analyzing client payment history to determine appropriate follow-up actions.
  • Collaborating with the Accounting Department to process payments and identify uncollectible receivables.
  • Notifying the Collections Manager and attorneys of disputed invoices.
  • Coordinating with billing staff for accurate invoice transmission and resolution of e-billing issues.
  • Creating analytical receivable reports and assisting in special tasks as needed.

The Candidate:

  • Preferred qualifications include an Associate or Bachelor's degree.
  • Essential requirements entail three to five years of experience in the financial industry, with prior in-house law firm collections experience considered advantageous.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Ability to communicate courteously and diplomatically, follow instructions efficiently, provide information effectively, and maintain relationships with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Proficiency in Word and Excel is required, while experience in Aderant is a plus.
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed is a requirement.
