Responsibilities

We are searching for highly motivated, technically competent, and a mechanically inclined individual to join our New Product Introduction (NPI) Team. This is a highly skilled position with a broad scope of responsibilities. In this position you will support a cross functional team of Engineers with rapid prototyping parts and assemblies. Our product is scaled to the size of a 20 foot shipping container. You will lead rigging operations for those containers and using a large forklift will move those packages to their outdoor test stations and prepare them for loading semi truck flatbed trailers prior to shipping to the customer.

• You will work within our newly established Pilot Manufacturing facility in Menlo Park collaborating with our highly talented team of mechanics and engineers to bring affordable, dispatchable, and clean energy to the world
• Work with a quick-learning build and test team to help develop the next generation of high efficiency generators
• To support our NPI activities you will need to fabricate small to medium sized welded steel frames and brackets
• Fabricate and assemble work stations using aluminum extrusions and supplied hardware
• Collaborate with engineers to fix, repair, and redesign components and assemblies
• Conduct mechanical inspections of test units, documenting condition information for use by our engineers
• Identify opportunities to improve safety and productivity

Qualifications

• Minimum of 7 years of experience with mechanical assembly and/or repair. Experience with automotive or heavy equipment
• General metal fabrication skills
• Ability to read engineering drawings
• Ability to problem solve and bring solutions for engineering support
• Certified Class V Forklift Rating
• Certified Welder with experience in:
  • Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW)
  • Gas Metal Gas Welding (GMGW/MIG)
  • Gas Tungsten Arch Welding (GTAW/TIG)
  • Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)
• Manual Lathe and Mill skills are a plus
• Ability to learn quickly, is self-motivated and safety oriented
• Experience with precision measuring, down to .001”, using micrometers, bore gauges, gauge blocks, etc.
• Candidates must be able to stand for long periods of time, lift up to 50 lbs., and wear required PPE

The Bay Area hourly wage for this role is $35-$42 + pre-IPO stock options + benefits. This position is on-site in Menlo Park, CA. The hourly wage will be adjusted based on the experience of the employee.
