Montage Medical Group is looking to provide an internship opportunity to a Monterey County or Santa Cruz County local student who is interested on a Data Analysis career.


Montage Medical Group’s internship provides a recent graduate with an opportunity for hands-on data analytics experience in healthcare. Under the direct supervision of the Director of Clinical Analytics, the Data Analytics Intern, will use their skills to advance the quality, service and affordability goals of Montage Medical Group and learn from experienced professionals. This is a 6 month, full time, paid internship with the potential of hiring on.

The intern will support routine and ad hoc data extraction and analysis, report generation, quality assurance and automation of data processes. The intern will also be responsible for a project that best suits both the business needs of Montage Medical Group and their skillset. The project will work through the steps of the data analytics lifecycle, culminating in a final summary at the end of the internship period.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify, analyze, and interpret tends or patterns in complex data sets
  • Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports
  • Assist Director of Clinic Analytics with various projects
  • Query home-grown and vendor databases for ad hoc data and reporting needs
  • Provide operational, clinical and strategic level reporting and analytics from various databases and applications
  • Operate existing routine data flows while maintaining and expanding automation tools as needed
  • Visualize data using tools such as Tableau, Excel and Python
  • Implement a project through the data analytics lifecycle
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Experience with SQL and/or programming (demonstrated by coursework or personal projects)
  • Analytic skills and interest in statistics, data science, data engineering and related technical disciplines
  • Proficient organizational, written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Interest in healthcare
  • Excellent critical thinking/problem solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in a technical subject or relevant experience with databases, coding or software development.
