COMMODITY MANAGER

ECR International, Inc. has been a leading manufacturer providing heating and cooling products for almost 100 years under family of brand names including Utica Boilers, Dunkirk, Olsen, Pennco, Argo and EMI. ECR is a part of Granby Industries LP, a division of TerraVest Industries Inc., of Canada. 

ECR International Inc. Is headquartered in Utica, NY and is seeking a Commodity Manager that will be located out of our Dunkirk, NY Manufacturing Facility.

Summary

Reporting to the VP supply chain, the Commodity Manager is responsible for the development and execution of commodity and sourcing strategies within Granby Industries Group, HVAC division. The Manager has the responsibility to strategically develop, execute and maintain effective category and commodity strategies to provide an efficient supply chain. This role will require the individual to have experience with the complete range of strategic sourcing activities; including, but not limited to: analysis of spend, formulation and implementation of commodity strategies, negotiation of contracts, and the ongoing management of strategic sourcing relationships. The position is measured primarily on improving cost position and cash flow, optimizing inventory, and reducing material expenses.

Responsibilities

·       Develop and execute commodity strategies, contract negotiations, cost optimization and risk mitigation for assigned commodities;

·       Achieve year-over-year cost reduction, containment, and optimization for assigned commodities to meet business objectives;

·       Conduct resourcing and market analysis, implement risk mitigation and supply continuity plans;

·       Lead supplier selection and source activities including developing selection criteria;

·       Drive the consolidation of the current supply chain including a preferred supplier list to reduce cycle time and cost with improved quality & reliability;

·       Conduct quarterly and annual Business Reviews with Supply chain KPI;

·       Plans, monitor and assist R&D Team through the early stage of NPI (new product introduction) process through volume production;

·       Partner with engineering on identifying new sources of supply and selection for new products during the development phase;

·       Interface with other departments (Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, etc.) to resolve any production affecting materials issues;

Competencies, Skills, Knowledge

·       Excellent Project Management and cross-functional team leadership skills;

·       Experience in Strategic Sourcing Analysis and implementation;

·       Experienced in creation, negotiation, and administration of contracts;

·       Strong analytical, research and negotiation skills;

·       Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at any level;

·       Ability to drive aggressive implementation plans and schedules;

·       Must be able to problem solve and handle multiple tasks effectively;

·       Strong knowledge of MS Office Excel.

Education, Experience, Certifications

·       Requires a bachelor's degree in business, engineering or related field;

·       At least 7 years’ experience in Supplier and Commodity management in manufacturing environment;

·       Experience working with overseas suppliers.
