Automation Controls & Robotics Technician

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Associate's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering or Robotics technology preferred

EXPERIENCE: One year of related experience preferred. Computer Skills: Must demonstrate computer literacy; Proficient using Microsoft Office; Experience in PLC and HMI programming. Familiar or experience with Cobot purchase, setup and installation is a plus.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for sustaining PLC portion of equipment used in production. Will be responsible to assist in sustaining and installation of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems on equipment used in the production process. Perform installation of process control and robotic equipment. Must be able to perform and update modifications, preventative maintenance, and periodic performance checks. Will be responsible to maintain service records of the control devices and automated equipment, including repairing when necessary. Must be able to communicate and interact with all levels of the operational teams. Will be the resident Fanuc Robot Expert.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

• Examine work orders and converse with equipment operators to detect equipment problems and to ascertain whether mechanical or human errors contributed to the problems.
• Study blueprints, schematics, manuals, or other specifications to determine installation procedures.
• Set up and test industrial equipment to ensure that it functions properly.
• Trouble shoot, repair, adjust, or calibrate industrial machines.
• Maintain equipment logs that record performance problems, repairs, calibrations, or tests.
• Calibrate testing instruments and installed or repaired equipment to prescribed specifications.
• Coordinate efforts with other workers involved in installing or maintaining equipment or components.
• Advise management regarding customer satisfaction, product performance, or suggestions for product improvements.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks, such as checking, cleaning, or repairing equipment to detect and prevent problems.
• Test faulty equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test equipment or software, and apply knowledge of the functional operation of electronic units and systems.
• Inspect components of industrial equipment for accurate assembly and installation or for defects, such as loose connections or frayed wires.
• Perform testing, start-up, and troubleshooting of PLC and industrial control systems.
• Program robot for series of manipulator moves by using handheld teach pendant or pc and software package.
• Design, program, & troubleshoot PLC, industrial control systems and relay control circuits to include panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and interfaces.
• Support the environmental policy with proactive process implementation, improvement suggestions, reducing waste, and acting on environment performance results and findings.
• Extensive experience in troubleshooting, interpreting, modifying, and programming PLCs.
• Ability to adjust Fanuc Robot programs.
• Apply creative skills and related knowledge in electronics, mechanics, pneumatics, and the ability to install, program, troubleshoot, circuitry, control systems, and machinery.
