We have an opening for a full time 2nd Shift Calibration Lab Supervisor position serving New England from our Chelmsford, MA laboratory. This position oversees a team of skilled calibration professionals performing electrical and mechanical calibrations.

Primary Objectives
Direct Leadership:
- As a member of company leadership, support Company directives and decisions.
- Monitor employee productivity and provide constructive feedback and coaching, ensuring that operations are carried out productively, to secure profitability and sustainable growth.
- Schedule work for the team per Laboratory Manager’s direction and customer requirements.
- Provide leadership to the technicians.
- Work with other Team Leaders to ensure expedited work is assigned and completed.
- Work with Laboratory Manager to level workflow through cross-utilization of technicians.
- Coordinate workflow between shifts.
- Remain familiar with Company policies and procedures and advise the Laboratory Manager of any concerns or policy infractions.
- Recommend training programs, schedule training and cross training, maintain training records.
- Work with the Laboratory Manager to conduct team member performance reviews.
- Take a proactive role in supporting the Team and providing customer support while maintaining the highest level of integrity.
- Invest in personal development to upgrade knowledge through networking, workshops, seminars and books.
- Working knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 9001, and ANSI/NCSL Z540-1 requirements.
- Approve and facilitate expedited services for the team.
Equipment Calibration / Technician Support:
- Enforce all safety policies and practices.
- Support customer inquiries.
- Coordinate equipment needs with Onsite team.
- Process subcontracted services and repairs as needed.
- Place requisitions for supplies (nitrogen, batteries, etc....).
- Perform calibrations on both customer and Essco equipment.
- Provide team members with technical assistance and advice.
- Work to understand internal/external customer needs and requirements through effective communication and develop relationships through excellent customer service.
Calibration Quality Assurance:
- Work with Management to recommend expanded capabilities and instrumentation requirements and suggest changes in techniques and processes that will improve productivity, performance, quality and cost effectiveness.
- Perform outgoing inspection on completed work.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills/Abilities:
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to collect and analyze data, define problems, establish facts, find flaws, draw valid conclusions and pose solutions to complex calibration and metrology issues.
- The ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical and diagram forms.
- High-level problem solving and reasoning skills required.
- Experience with physical and chemical processes and complex analytical equipment a plus.
- Effective oral and written communication.
- Excellent organizational skills and the demonstrated ability to prioritize and accomplish goals while working across departments is essential.
- Excellent interpersonal skills such as active listening, teamwork, dependability, motivation, flexibility, patience and empathy.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Proficient in enterprise software such as Microsoft Office Suite. IndySoft and MetCal experience preferred.
Education and Experience
- BS degree w/ 3+ years of industry experience or AS degree w/ 5+ years of industry experience, or 7+ years of calibration experience, preferred.
- Experience working in an ISO 17025 and or ANSI Z540 accredited environment preferred.
- Familiarity with requirements of calibration accreditation bodies (A2LA, NVLAP, and ILAC-MRA) preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Required to walk; climb or balance
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Work Environment:
- Professional lab environment.
- Potential exposure to moving mechanical parts, pressurized cylinders, chemicals and high voltage power.
- Routinely use office equipment including computers, copiers, and phones.
- Noise level is usually quiet to moderate.

Schedule:
- 8-hour shift - 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm preferred; hybrid schedule possible
- Monday to Friday
- Overtime and weekends as needed
