Job Title: Transportation Procurement Coordinator

Job Description: The Transportation Procurement Coordinator is the primary contact for the internal sales and commercial support team; is responsible for the outcome of assigned domestic freight and cargo requests, including onboarding, maintaining, and developing carrier network to meet customer freight needs, service, tracking, routing, problem resolution, and vendor compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • Meets day-to-day volume of freight requests by matching loads/freight to carriers based upon schedule, availability, and pricing.
  • Establishes relationships with carriers across a geographic region of responsibility to ensure efficient movement of customer freight and cargo.
  • Coordinate transportation providers and carriers to ensure prompt and proper movement of shipments.
  • Efficiently performs assigned processes to meet the required daily logistics activities.
  • Selects and builds carrier network for ongoing transportation needs and negotiates rates for assigned shipments with carriers to ensure the successful movement of cargo will maintain profit targets.
  • Collaborates and communicates with logistics technicians, customer service representatives, quality personnel, and others involved in the shipment and receipt of products about information related to the shipment.
  • Compile carrier and route assignments and provides updates.
  • Tracks, traces, and updates the status of shipments.
  • Oversees hazardous waste storage areas, hazardous waste documentation, equipment, and procedures.
  • Handles Over-Dimensional, Drayage, and Special Project freight assignments
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Quick learner with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, maintain focus and adapt to a variety of challenges.
  • Ability to conduct detailed procedures in a time-constrained environment
  • Good management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong sense of time organization and urgency.
  • Able to work independently and within a team.
  • Willing to travel.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Basic proficiency with MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or higher, associate's degree or higher preferred.
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience in logistics operations
  • 5+ years of shipping, receiving, carrier management, and import/export operations experience
  • Experience in FTL and Drayage, Over-Dimensional, and HazMat logistics.
  • Experience processing shipments using TMS systems and industry load boards such as Truck Stop and DAT.
  • Prior global shipping management/customs clearance experience is highly desirable.
