Title: Electronic Banking Specialist II

Reports to: Accounting Manager Supervises: None

Status: Non-Exempt

Objective

The Electronic Banking Specialist II is responsible for the processing of Automated Clearing House (ACH) files under NACHA regulations, the processing of share draft transactions, liquidity management, and other electronic banking functions. Additionally, Electronic Banking Specialist II will perform a variety of support duties related to the Accounting and Operations Department and support functions within the Credit Union.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Process and transmit daily ACH transactions:
    • Accurately review and assess credit and debit exception transactions, specifically the Tran Code, SEC Code, and exception reason, to determine if manual processing is required based on written procedures
    • Ensure processing and decision-making is compliant with current NACHA disputes, exceptions, and returns guidelines and rules
    • Balance daily files transmission to Federal Reserve by required deadline
    • Timely respond to ACH disputes and research
    • Originate recurring ACH debits and credits to other financial institutions by accurately originating ACH transactions with appropriate account information
  • Assist in the management of the Credit Union’s daily liquidity position and execute borrowing when necessary to maintain adequate liquidity levels
  • Answer operational and procedural questions by researching and interpreting Operations policy, regulations, and systems (i.e., Symitar)
  • Proficiently complete all duties defined in Electronic Banking Specialist 1 job description.
  • Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned
  • Assist in other areas as directed by Credit Union management
  • Develops an understanding of Credit Union history, philosophy, organization, policies, and operations procedures
  • On a self-directed basis, continue to improve individual level of competency through training and certification on established educational programs
  • Must be able to relate to other people beyond giving and receiving instructions:
    • Can get along with coworkers or peers without exhibiting behavioral extremes
    • Perform work activities requiring negotiating, instructing, supervising, persuading, or speaking with others
    • Respond appropriately to constructive feedback from a supervisor

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent education and experience
  • Two to Three years of related experience
  • Strong sense of priority, attention to detail and high degree of accuracy
  • Prior experience in a financial/banking institution
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Professional demeanor
  • Effective communication skills
  • Basic PC skills (Windows, Excel)
  • Proficient typing skills
  • Assertive problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work well independently or as part of a team
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Desired Qualifications

  • Accredited ACH Professional (AAP)
  • Basic knowledge of Symitar processing system
